Karaoke - The Stones - Please read

Hi

as many of you now know I live and work in China, teaching students at a university.

Many of you may also know that the Rolling Stones are almost unknown in China. There are some people helping me from this site and I am so thankful for that - believe me.

Now - I think a good way to introduce the Stones is through Karaoke. Like the Japanese the Chinese enjoy this. They love singing.

Is there a free website you know of where I can download such files (Stones Songs)? I have searched but can find nothing.

Please, I don't want some of the awful Karaoke efforts where a keyboard chugs away at a song that sounds little like the original.

Audio is great but what would be better is Visual - where one can see the words appear as you sing them - this would be so much better because the students will have the option of reading the words - their listening skills are not so good.

Whether you know of a site or not, thank you anyway

David

To answer your question directly, no there are no free sites that have brilliant Stones karaoke files. Karaoke is BIG business & the good guys won't give you stuff away for free. If you lower your expectations a little there are tons of .kar & .mid files around for free. Yes, some are awful but some are quite good. Kar files are the same as .mid except that they have the lyrics embedded & will show up in a karaoke player. You can get programmes to embed lyrics into .mid files yourself but it's a LOT of work, I gave up.

Do you have a karaoke player? The best freeware one is VanBasco's, you don't need to go any further than this. It's quite small & won't use up your computor's resources. The lyrics will scroll, you can adjust the speed, pitch, loop, etc.

Here's a good links page for .kar & .mid files

[dmoz.org]

For general .kar files go here
[midikaraoke.com]

I've upped Brown Sugar from this site so you can get a feel for this system
[s57.yousendit.com]

I've got about 1700 mixed .kar files that I got from one site (don't remember the link, sorry) thats about 20mb total. They vary in quality but they've all got the lyrics which is what you want. Do a bit of exploring & if this suits you I'll post them for you. There's very little Stones stuff here tho.
