The best method to save your Rolling STONES Database
Posted by: Honestman ()

Hi!

I don't know how do you do it, but i read here and there many things on
what is the best method?
No one is agree with no one!
So i ask the IOOR's Family to tell me what to do to not losing
our Rolling STONES Gems!

I begin first :

I save all my files on two external Hard Drive.
When I have enough time, i burn all the material on VERBATIM CDR
(I have tested many CD's, and VERBATIM are working very well for me)
For the recordings, i don't want to lose, I burn two CD's , one to play, one to save!
I also burn DVD of my CD's , i think it's enough but i've read one day
that we don't know exactly the real life of a CD and the real life of a HD .
Tests on Gold CD's and Silver CD's are maybe better than the others CD's
but finally even if a Gold CD is better, that don't means you won't lose your database!

Waitin' for your opinion about that
tongue sticking out smiley

i will try to save it with a raid system.
this should be safe. only a fire or a explosion can destroy my database.
or someone steals my pc??

I took Strettonbul´s advice. Why burn. Go direct to HD. Back up with another. Baring rocket attacks, tornadoes and thieves, should last as long as you. Or longer.

Just to recap:

Main copy - 2 x 1TB internal SATA Hard Drives
Backup Copy - 2 x 1TB Western Digital External Hard Drives (one for audio, one for video)

CDRs and DVDRs are risking your whole collection, unless you're not bothered about longevity.

smiling smiley 1 x 1TB external freecom
4 x 500GB external freecom

1 x 250GB internal seagate

600+ back up DVDs

All of the above just audio, Gotta get round to the video, problem is it is the same amount as the audio

For disc cleaning I recommend a lens cleaning cloth rub before using eac, if eac returns errors, stop and give it another rub down, usually does the trick and never ever use sony discs, if you get crc errors forget it, isobuster, eac everything fails.
