How Do U Sync Up Audio Cassette Tape with Video?

We shot a presentation the other day on mini-DV video tape (digital, but not HD). The sound is not there -- why I do not know.

However, we also recorded it on a high quality Sony professional field cassette stereo recorder (was prob $800 about 10-15 yrs ago).

How do I sync these up?

the best way to do this would be on a computer, using any number of software programs which allow the mxing together of video and audio from a variety of sources...Final Cut for Mac, or Adobe Premiere for PC's are two that come to mind, but there are many others.
Since the video portion is already digitized, all you will need to do is upload your analog audio to a digital format then capture both the video and the audio (separately, of course) to your software program of choice.
Once they are both loaded, the fun part is synching the audio to the silent video.
If both the video and the audio are one conitnuous, uninterrupted recordings, it should be fairly easy. If both have different starts, stops and interruptions, it will be very time consuming. Depending on what it is that you are synching up, could be fascinating or a bore...
