Most Memorable or Favorite Concert Tours (Semi OT)

Of all the band that you have seen on multiple tours, what stands out as far as being your favorite or best from each. Reasons could be quality of performance, maybe you had front row seats, any reason that makes that year’s show stand out. Example, seeing the stones in 1994 was most special because of the seats I had and I loved the set list, although 1972 was quite special too. Let’s make listing the reasons optional. Only one tour listed per band.

Here is my list:
Rolling Stones – 1994
AC/DC - 1990
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band - 1981
U2 - 1985
Queen - 1979
Led Zeppelin - 1972

Bruce kinda toured in 1982. The shore had a Bruce show at least once a week in the summer.

Rolling Stones - 1989 (Birmingham, AL, and Atlanta, GA)
The Who - 1975 (Greensboro, NC)
Bruce Springsteen - 1978 (Boston, MA)
Pink Floyd - 1994 (Atlanta, GA)
Paul McCartney - 1990 (Atlanta, GA)
Jethro Tull - 1973 (Greensboro, NC)
Grateful Dead - 1979 (Cape Cod, MA)
Queen - 1979 (Boston, MA)
Little Feat - 1978 (Boston, MA)
Alice Cooper - 1972 (Salem, VA, and Greensboro, NC)
Leon Russell - 1973 (Greensboro, NC)

And, while not great, it still fits on the "memorable" list:
George Harrison/Ravi Shankar - 1974 (Atlanta, GA)

Jerry Lee Lewis - The Corn Exchange, Cambridge, 5th April 1987.

I've seen him 36 times since 1980, but this concert was THE ONE: he started the show by walking on stage unannounced, climbing on top of the piano, & then walking across it & jumping off the end, & then the show got even better!!!

Stones – 1995 (Brixton Academy). Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven! Small venue and a great set list.
Pink Floyd – 1981 (The Wall, Earls Court). Explosions in your mind, they weren't kidding. Knew every word and the visuals were out of this world
Led Zeppelin – 1979 (Knebworth). Huge event, great show to end the 70’s.
Neil Young – 1989 (Hammersmith Odeon). First time I saw him solo.
Eagles – 1996 (Wembley Stadium). Never thought I would get to see them.
Genesis – 1980 (Carlisle Market Hall). Huge band at the time and in a small venue in my home town.
Six Of The Best (Genesis with Gabriel) – 1982 One off show at Milton Keynes Bowl. For Genesis fans who had not seen the band with PG, this was probably as good as it gets.
Paul McCartney – 1990 (Wembley Arena). At last! After a decade away from touring, Macca delivered the goods. The Beatles songs were treated with respect, no new arrangements or disguised intros.
Queen – 1982 (Leeds). Hot Space wasn’t your typical Queen album and the shows weren’t getting great reviews but this was stunning.
The Who – 1999 (Shepherds Bush). Small venue again. Great set list.
Slade – 1980 (Leicester University). Big fan when I was a kid. Seeing them live was great.
Bruce Springsteen – 1985 (Wembley Stadium). There was a lot of hype following the success of Born In The USA but could he deliver in a stadium? He made it feel like a small club.
Bob Dylan – 1984 (Wembley Stadium). Great set list
George Harrison Tribute 2002 - One off concert, two Beatles on stage at the same time. Lots of genuine love for George, it was almost like he was there. Only downside was the Dylan no-show.

.

Right on! On that tour I saw Bruce at the Coliseum in L. A. – one of the largest stadiums in the country, and yes, he brought us into the palm of his hand…amazing!
