I have been to the Memory Motel....actually have spent alot of time in Montauk,New York...where it is located. Apparently so did the Stones years ago... I don't think they ever stayed there..but the rumor is they did jam there.
The Memory Motel is...and has always been a legendary spot , but I would never think of staying there {sorry but it has always been a run down sort of place} ...but I have been in to check out some music. It has a bar and occaisionally has a live band...But it is a very nostalgic place for any Stones lovers ....If you ever go to Montauk ..you can't miss it..right in the center of town.
It's a beautiful, small coastal town on the very end of Long Island's south fork...where there are really great beaches, restaurants and places to stay. Primarily known for fishing, boating..and summer fun.
And of course ..the Memory Motel.

oh--and right, they never stayed there--they were at warhol's--but i wrote a story on the place and the owner told me jagger liked playing pool there and bianca would go in the bar kitchen to cook once in awhile (and supposedly peter beard shot some photos of mick and bianca in there at the bar)

I don't know if it's common knowledge, at least it was knew to me that
the song "Memory Motel" was a place that actually existed.
Just imagine Mick Jagger and Carly Simon having a one-night-stand in this place....
Makes me wonder how the rooms might have looked like winking smiley

Backstory:

(...)
The title comes from an actual motel in Montauk, on Long Island. The lyrics to the song have long drawn speculation as to who the "Hannah baby" in the lyrics refer to. Carly Simon is often a name considered, due to Jagger's descriptions of the woman throughout the song. Jagger describes her thus:

Hannah honey was a peachy kind of girl; Her eyes were hazel and her nose was slightly curved....

Her eyes were hazel and her teeth were slightly curved; She took my guitar and she began to play, She sang a song to me, Stuck right in my brain... When I asked her where she headed for, "Back up to Boston, I’m singing in a bar"

The lyrics talk of the fading love brought on by a one-night stand at said motel. The song describes the female subject as a strong, independent woman, comparable in many ways to the female subject of "Ruby Tuesday", with Richards repeated refrain:

She got a mind of her own and she use it well...

Been there in 1994.
There is a photo with me in front of it.
When I find it I will post it here.
Was proud to be there as a German boy 33 years old.
