It's not slide guitar but Big Jim Sullivan on standard electric guitar. He really perfected these kind of country bends and was a big influence on Jimmy Page, who has used this technique very much throughout is Led Zep carreer.
The use of the Dearmond tone/volume pedal adds to the pedal steel effect. I think Big Jim was the first guitarist in the UK to use one, it featured on the Dave Berry!? Crying Game single.
