OT: MSN rumor, Steven Tyler rehearsing w/ Page, Jones & Baby Bonzo

Don't shoot the messenger.

How do I feel about it???
Much to the mocking I get from many here, I'm a front-man fan.
I love Aerosmith (in no small part due to Tyler).
I'll tell you this, I'd MUCH rather see this than some no-name Plant replacement.
Imagine Robert & Alison opening for this? LOL!
I know it's just a rumor, but let's just say it is true... what to think of it?

What does this have to do with AC/DC?

I don't know, I like Tyler and Aerosmith, but I think it would just be weird hearing the voice of Aerosmith up there singing Zeppelin songs. I'd prefer someone who was less well known.

wont work, the voice is not right, plus i think replacing plant with another legend frontman just seems strange

anything that gets one of the world's most consistently brilliant and exciting guitarists to let loose on tour is A-OK with me. i think it's great that they are enthused about playing out without Robert. I like Robert's new stuff and alla that but the Pagester wants to cut loose and that's way good enough for me,. whoever sings, whatever material...
btw i really adored tyler's live take on yardbirds ravefest 'train' kept a 'rollin' from their first (or second?) LP...(hats off to joe perry and brad whitford too)
but whomever sings whatever material...jimmy wants out of the box,?? all cheers to him for stepping up and out. i expect he'll show up all gifts intact. a blessing.

Ok, who wants gossip?!

Led Zeppelin HAVE rehearsed with Steven Tyler, but decided his voice wasn't right. They were / are rehearsing in a studio in SW London, I won't say where as that's not fair on my mate. He's an old friend of mine and has been at the studio's, as he's a sound engineer.

So don't worry, ST will not be filling in for RP on a LZ frenzy!!

It won't work because...Aerosmith are supposedly working on their newest masterpiece (I know, ha ha)? And gearing up for a tour, etc...

Well, whatever. At this point, as long as it's not P Diddy or Kid Rock or Darius Rucker.

I haven't heard them play and I'm not a Queen fan but how does it work for Paul ROgers and Queen? Do the fans like it or are they sceptic?

Cheers,
Wuudy

Well I dunno - they just released a new record. I don't know what that means for the fans but I guess time will tell.

Good point, Melillo, that is sort of the same comparison to Zeppelin and Tyler. Now you have put it like that it would be very weird.

Cheers,
Wuudy

???

IF Tyler jammed with them, maybe it was just for kicks?
Haven't they all jammed together before? I remember hearing a R'n'R Hall of Fame Jam wih several of them (don't know the line-up) going from Sweet Emotion into a section of Dazed & Confused.

So it might not happen. Still, I think hearing tapes of what they did would be cool. You know, for curiosity's sakes?

I thought Chris Robinson did an excellent job on the Page/Crowes collaboration.

Agreed! The Crowes were phenominal with Page, and that was a great tour. But it wasn't billed as a Zeppelin reunion and they did some great blues standards and a lot of Crowes songs. That was fantastic! Great version live of In the Light and the Wanton Song! Done with three guitars it really did the songs justice and sounded like Physical Grafitti. Great show!

No one can decently replace Freddie.
Paul Rodgers in a good singer and frontman, but he lacks extravanza.
Despite the age difference, I always thought that Robbie Williams or George Michael would've been better for Queen.

I'm with you ohno! There are probably many RP sound-alikes out there. I just picked up a Journey dvd for a friend with the guy they found on YouTube. Now, I'm no Journey fan but this guy is great. Sounds just like Steve Perry. He's out there, having a blast, and the band looks like they are really enjoying themselves.

Was in my record store yesterday, they were playing something of the new AC/DC album. The song sounded like Led Zeppelin and Brian Johnson like Plant! Steven Tyler would give the band a new direction - as it sems to be no more Plant's. They could manage something like Queen with Paul Rodgers.

At the moment nobody knows what Jimmy and JP actually want.

A big Led Zep with a new big name singer (might as well get Coverdale)
A brand new band that plays some of the old classics
A lower key tour. Get a decent singer in and pay lots of smaller venues using any name apart from Led Zeppelin and play a mix of old covers and Zep.

Personally I think calling themselves Led Zep without Robert would be a huge mistake but if the guys really want to play and need a singer is it really different to Page/Crowes or Coverdale/Page?
