The one 'oh my god' show was Neil Young 'Weld' show at the LA Sports arena. Had front row center seats I got out of the box office. Plus my old friend Mike Ness and Social Distortion opened. Half way thru SD's set, Mike looked down and saw me and got a big grin on his face. Had a great laugh next time I saw him. After that, any show at the Whiskey during the late 70s, early 80s. The Damned. Fear, Go Gos, Plasmatics, Stranglers, Costello, Rockpile, BLondie, to many to mention. Those were the days. No big bouncers at the back door. You could go back stage, if you didn't look like a lunatic, and meet the artists. Ah, those were the days.

Volunteering for Ottawa Bluesfest, I met and shook hands with Smokey Robinson, Rev. Al Green, Buddy Guy, John Mayall, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, John Haitt.

I was a beer runner in the laste 90's and for some reason there was a fancy plate of food at the top of a mountain of beer cases in the refrigerator truck. My buddy and I were starving so we foolishly attacked the mystery plate.
An hour later, Little Richard was having a fit backstage and wouldn't go on because his meal went missing. He had a fit onstage during his show, lost his tember at the camera crew and actually cried. A photographer friend was backstage and said the tissue he wiped his eyes with were caked in make-up.

Oops.

As far as my rock and roll resmue goes, I spent most of the 90's as a solo acoustic artist playing around Ottawa. I was in two Rolling Stones tribute bands. Picked up music again after a 4 year break to start The Powergoats.

Weve had 2 albums so far with local staore placement, played on 4 radio stations and are releaseing our 3rd CD at the end of March in concurrence with a documentary about us. We've played the Ottawa Bluesfest twice, the second time were givine a spot on the mainstages opening for Cage the Elephant, Rise Against and The Black Keys. Rise Against being by far the coolest bunch of guys!

Wow, quite the lineup of groups and artists we have in this thread. Thanks all for sharing them. I think my first concert was the Grass Roots followed closely by Bloodrock back in the late 60's early 70's. I did see Johnny Taylor in a small club in Monroe, Louisiana which was a darn good one, this was around the same time. My first time seeing the Rolling Stones was in 1978 with a record crowd at that time in the Superdome. I have seen them 8 times total since then. I was working in a record store back in the mid 70's and got not only to see a good many concerts but got backstage at several of them as well.

A few other concert highlights thru the years

Cat Stevens - Atlanta - 1976 - fantastic concert by the way
Sensational Alex Harvey Band / Jethro Tull - 1976/77 in Macon, Georgia (Zal Cleminson is one heck of a guitar player) Got to meet Ian Anderson either backstage or at the hotel after the concert. Got a free bottle of wine from them but lost it somewhere along the way, lol.
Bob Dylan - 1978 I think in Pensacola, Florida (Roger McGuinn was playing with him at the time)
Ian Hunter / Mick Ronson / Ellen Foley - Akron, Ohio - Tangeirs restaurant - got to meet all 3 after the show - great concert
Jefferson Starship - Birmingham one night, Nashville the next with backstage passes
Kinks - Nashville - early 1980's
The Who - Birmingham - early 1980's
Donovan - Tuscaloosa 1988 or so
Jason & The Scorchers - Tuscaloosa 1988 I think
The Call - seen them 3 times - twice in Birmingham and once in Atlanta in 1998 one of the most underrated bands of all time in my opinion
Charlie Sexton - 1994 Atlanta
Social Distortion / Ramones - 1990 Atlanta
Rod Stewart - Birmingham early 1980's
Police - Birmingham
U2 - Atlanta - early 1990's - worked this concert
Joe Walsh - early 1990's - worked this concert too, one day after the U2 concert. I had a friend who worked for a promoter and he got hired for these two concerts

3,000 musical performances in clubs, small halls, larger halls, arenas and stadiums between 1965 and present. In LA, England and Europe and throughout much of the USA.

1965 Beatles in Las Vegas. Dylan at the Pasadena Civic. I was a well-raised chick in my teens. Couldn't hear anything but the screams for The Beatles. With Dylan, I sat there and thought, "Oh my God, I'm watching someone who's on drugs! I was thrilled."

Current faves --Adele, Bruno Mars, Kanye West (loaded with potential he may never realize if he keeps hanging out with Jay-Z).
