Bob sure loves to tour. He just wound up a leg of the Never-Ending Tour a few weeks ago. But I wish he would take a break and write and record new songs. I'm looking forward to the upcoming release in his Bootleg Series, and I sure am eager for a follow-up to Modern Times.

I would settle for another round of his wonderful radio hour series. Then again, if Bob was coming back round my neighbourhood, I would be grateful to see him again.

bob needs a new band, a new approach to the set or something. nice that he strapped on the ol' acoustic for a number, but these past few tour segments are all starting to make me yawn. thought maybe he'd toss in one of the "new" numbers from his recent release to shake things up a little - most of these are getting critical acclaim and all that, so....

The last of the many times I have seen him was horrible. He was hunched over the keyboards the whole night mumbling lyrics incoherently. My friend and walked out. Just dreadful.

I agree with T&A agreeing with himself ;-)

However I think he does not neccessarily need a new band (he has a great one), but he should try arranging the songs differently. Some of the songs have been played the same way for years and years. OR he should finally rediscover all the mountains of songs he has been ignoring for so long, the songs from Tell-Tale Signs among them. Why not play Huck's Tune or Tell ol' Bill in concert?

I agree with MacPhisto. His band is okay - but it's no match for arguably his greatest band...the Campbell-Sexton group. I still think they've pretty much gone as far as they can go artistically as a unit; Bob usually "changes tires" at about this point in the process.

If you look at the total number of songs he rotates over the course over a dozen or so shows, it's a very remarkable catalogue - but the songs he's been rotating have been essentially unchanged (aside from Modern Times songs, etc.) for many years now. I was listening to some shows from a few years back when he did "romance in durango" and "dear landlord" among other ultra-rarities - he did them very well and got great audience response...then immediately dropped them. wtf?

10. Visions Of Johanna (Bob on keyboard)
11. 'Til I Fell In Love With You (Bob on harp)
12. Desolation Row (Bob on keyboard)

Many interrogations about yesterday's gig !
First, it is clear that he decided to play the first song on guitar and it's great !
Then, I wonder what does '(Bob on guitar, then keyboard and harp)' mean ? Does it mean he didn't manage to play guitar and so went to his keyboard to play the song ? Or was what he planned to do ? Strange, isn't it ?
And last, I wonder about the 'Bob on harp' thing. Does that mean he didn't play any instrument during the song ? It would be quite disappointing !!!

I don't know for sure which guitar he is playing these days. The last time I've seen him in concert (2007) it was a Tele.

No more guitar on that setlist:-( I am a huge fan of Dylan, but have to admit his voice live these days is a shadow of its former self. He just doesn't seem to be interested in singing...ashame because he has a great voice when he wants to!

I agree with T&A too! Last time I saw him, he never touched his guitar; this is not Dylan to me. Plus, he turns his back on the audience, and for someone who tours so much, I wonder, does he LIKE touring? Sure doesn't act like a man who plays FOR the audience, or even enjoys playing. He's one icon who really should hang it up. Sorry Gazza, I know how you love him. I loved him for a long time and still think that as a poet, no one can touch him! I love his awesome body of work, from 1964 on BUT he's had a few clunkers in there too! I love " Blonde On Blonde", Blood On The Tracks", and " Time Out Of Mind" and " Love Sick" is good too. Live now, I'd recommend you skip it.

It's a bit disappointing that he has played any of the previously unreleased original songs from Tell Tale Signs yet. I know he doesn't play new songs until they're released, but the new set has been out for nearly a month. I'm sure lots of the Bobheads would be up for hearing Red River Shore or Dreaming of You worked into the setlists.
