For 2012, yeah that would be awesome.
Thing is, I think anniversaries mean more to us than they do to them. They don't seem sentimental in that way.

The Stones opening the 2012 London Olympics as a kick-off for a 50th anniversary tour would be awesome. Let them play just one song and everyone would know about it.

Hope so, but I'm not holding my breath since George Michael got to open the new Wembley and Paul McCartney got to open and close Live 8 and close Live Aid 1985. Not that Macca did a bad job, but it seems like every time England has some big event, they tend to turn to Macca rather than The Stones. I hope they won't do that at the 2012 Olympics. Let The Stones open. They're better.
