I go crazy picking a favorite Stone! What a subversive question! Well, it was Keith...Wait, Charlie...No does Stu count? Ron too, especially taking non-RS career into account...forget it...
fave piano Ian Stewart Nicky Hopkins Ian McLagan
and lest I gorget Jack Nitzsche.
Most underrated songs: Think I'm Going Mad, How Can I Stop, Sitting On A Fence,
It Won't Take Long, Turd On The Run, Citadel, No Use In Crying, Everything Is Turning To Gold, Flight 505, Baby Break It Down.
And I don't think any of them were ever played live...

Category ideas

- Favorite album

- Favorite song

- Favorite less known song (maybe with a mentioning of the "known" songs)

Great idea and I support fully Baboon´s suggestions because that´s enough to vote,
otherwise it´s getting a vote monster without any value.

Thank´s in advance,bv (can easily live with some more/different categories as well)

really looking forward to it bv!
still it's another example for that if the boss comes up with an idea everybody likes it. i asked for polls before and the main reaction was "please no polls!!"
just funny! ;-)

Somebody said "Favorite tour", but should we not add something like "The three greatest concerts you heard on bootleg"?

could stuff other than "favourite XYZ" be included?
stuff like number of shows attended ~ since what year has one been into the Stones ~
does one own bootlegs or pirated stuff or both ~ and so on. those aren't too imaginative, i know,
but i'm not too big on "favourites", rankings, etc ... "favourite poll topics" might work :E

(but to answer one of BV's questions: yeah, a question about favourite Stones should include all eight, i feel)

This looks a bit more like market research than a poll.
I'll go for the poll, as suggested by BV, and the brilliant suggestion by the Danish JJF.

Thanks for the input. I will try to make a few but important choices only. The list of "favorite tours" would be something like this:

Early 60's
1969-1973
1975-1976
1978
1981-1982
1989-1990
1994-1995
1997-1999-Bridges To Babylon
1999-No Security
2002-2003-Licks
2005-2007-A Bigger Bang

This will be a drop-down so that I don't get all sorts of tour names and years. If the list is not clear then feel free to comment. Then the list of "favorite stone" is quite easy, all current and past members. Total of 8 names.

bv, for that best tour question, might it be good to add a question about which tours the person answering actually saw?

it could be done by adding another question saying did you see your favorite tour, yes or no, or the same list checking off which you saw. or before answering the favorite tour, you could say, "of the tours you saw", or "heard", if CDs and bootlegs count.

what do you think? maybe all this goes without saying.

I think there's only 7 current and former Stones:
MJ,KR,BJ,CW,BW,MT,RW

Maybe counting Ian Stewart? Would be a nice gesture.
How's about Billy Preston (Too far off I think) and Dick Taylor?

You realize, of course, that by ranking the favorite members of the Stones we'll also be identifying the least favorite Stone? Be careful what you poll for, is all I'm saying.

I will be very careful about how the results of this poll will be presented. Remember IORR is NOT The SUN or News of the World. I do know that the "favorite Stone" question may be used and abused in many ways. The most interesting part would be to verify something I have always been told, but never seen and documentation about, that Keith is the most popular Stone in Japan, and so on. This is all statistics, what people think, and I will make sure there are no big loosers in this game! Totally harmless...

smile: ahh but can you prevent the Sun and/or News of the World from reporting the results, with their own twists?
they wouldn't be the first papers to cite iorr as an authoritative source, after all! :E

Well sure,

He's got the style, he's got the grace
He's got the clothes, but not the face
. . .
He's big in Japan

Well if Brian Jones ends up being the most popular Stone in Mongolia and it makes it to the front page of the SUN it is ok for me. They have to sell papers you know. And then Mick will ask Michael Cohl to book a show in Mongolia for their next tour...

Keep the poll as a constant institution, so that the rankings can vary from time to time (like album charts).

Good idea, we should do that regularly, maybe once in a month or so.

I'm with JumpingKentFlash's list. Just add fav venue, fav wife/girlfriend, fav tour, and maybe fav tribute band.

"Fav wife/girlfriend" ??? What ? You are joking,aren´t you ?
That would be ridicoulus smashing the poll and the good ideas in pieces,
come on,if it´s getting this way,I suggest :

fav animal
fav underwear
fav haircut......

The way it´s now installed by bv I do like, let´s see how it´s developing
Thank´s bv
