Classic Grateful Dead, sandwiching Marty Robbins cowboy song El Paso in between Dark Star and Eyes of the World. smileys with beer

I agree.....excellent choice Bingo!!!!

Yeah I love the Dead's version of El Paso..........

I remember the first time I heard that live was in the mid 80's at Hampton Colisium in Hampton, Virginia.

Good call, Bingo.

I'm ashamed to admit that I only started to get into the Grateful Dead a couple of years' back but I'm currently on this long voyage of often wondrous discovery; enjoying every minute of it, especially the live stuff.

Thanks!!

A nice JGB to listen to would be the February 1980 shows with After Midnight >Eleanor Rigby> After Midnight. Fantastic!

Too hook Stones fans into JGB (and then hopefully The Dead) I usually play that 1975 version of Positively 4th Street with Nicky Hopkins on keys (conveniently and brilliantly remastered on the Best of Jerry set).

Brilliant piece which waters my eyes every time.

Mountains of the Moon at the Playboy Mansion!

MOTM...one of my all time favourits...Crazy Fingers is my all time favourite song.

A quick funny story about MOTM...When I lived in San Francisco back in 1986..I kept telling my girlfriend in Connecticut, "Wait until you see what I'm bringing home for you"...long story short, she picked me up at JFK airport...after the usual embracing and kissing along with the "I missed you so much, blah blah blah"

She said, "What did you bring me?" I popped in a pristine copy, on cassette the March 1, 1969 show..with the classic Dupree's> Mountains Of The Moon, Dark Star> St. Stephen> The Eleven> Lovelight E: Hey Jude....and said.."LISTEN TO THIS MOUNTAINS OF THE MOON."

LOL...that relationship didn't last much longer. smoking smiley

I'm still going out with Jerry though >grinning smiley<

Bingo what kind of quality are those in.

Not sure if you've seen this but I just got it pretty cheap on Amazon. A Night Of the Family Dog. Its a show from New Years 1969 and its the Dead, Santana, Airplane and a few others. Pretty interesting stuff.

I'll have to get back to you...I'm sure they're similar to that family dog show...I know the one from Duke University..I think that's the 76 show, is in Black&White. I know I usually add or subtract Brightness and Contrast on the television to make it better. Kind of what I do with The Stones Paris 76 show.

Here's a website that you can put in the dates to see the setlist.

If you see anything from my above list that interests you, just ask and I shall send. Why buy on ebay or amazon, when, most likely it's the same quality I have.

my fav Dead tune is some live version of " Jack Straw " he's from Wichita , that i have been playin over & over for many years. love those lyrics

from wik.

First performance: October 19, 1971, at Northrop Auditorium, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. "Jack Straw" appeared in the first set, between "Black Peter" and "Big Railroad Blues." The show was notable for several other firsts: it was Keith Godchaux's first show; and saw the premieres of "Tennessee Jed," "Mexicali Blues," "Comes a Time," "One More Saturday Night," and "Ramble On Rose."

And THANK you too, Bingo!!!

Where was I?...
This is from the Canadian film 'Festival Express' - a cross-country tour when the musicians play and party on and off an old train. Buddy Guy, The Band, Ian & Syliva, Janis Joplin, The Dead, etc...

It was only released about 5 years ago.

This is a brand new site...it's basically Grateful Dead TV and has a video on demand. I'm watching 8-4-76 right now. Roosevelt Stadium, Jersey City, N.J

I believe you have to sign up to get video on demand...like any website, it will take a little poking around to figure everything out.

Enjoy!
