Just got my SAL Dvd from Best Buy.

There were two DVDs on the rack (not including several Blu-Ray disks).
One of them was priced at $25.99 and the other one was $19.99.
They were exactly the same. The yellow price sign on the rack
said "Rolling Stones - Shine A Light DVD $13.99.

So...I took the $19.99 SAL to the cash register and it rang up
as $19.99 plus tax. I mentioned the $13.99 sign. After having the
manager check the price, he mumbles something.... and I got it for $13.99.

(widescreen / 4 Bonus Performances / Featurette / 121 min. 5.1 Surround etc..)

I'm still not sure if the sale sign was wrong or if product numbers
were entered into the computer incorrectly...or if I really should
have paid something other than $13.99.

And did everybody else who bought it (and did not question the price) pay $19.99
or $25.99??

Well because Best Buy always has their NEW releases cheaper the first week or two of the release...it's a marked down price. Eventually, in a couple weeks the price will stay at what is on those stickers: $25.99

Sorry if this has already been covered...

Is the running time of time of the DVD longer than the
running time of the theatrical release? I haven't watched
my dvd yet but...I think i read that there would be additional
archival footage inserted into the movie...which obviously would make
it longer.

Am I correct? Has this been discussed?

I'm familiar with that...but there were 3 different prices for the
same dvd..$25.99, $19.99 & $13.99. And according to the Best Buy sales
add, the "sale" price was $19.99. The only thing listed as $13.99 (in the ad)
was the SAL soundtrack.

As mentioned earlier...they sold me the DVD for $13.99.

i loved shine a light, its brilliant, and the extras, i absolutely loved and adored it.

BUT WHY! WHY! must they bleep out the F words! the ENTIRE buddy guy story is hard to understand because theres so much dead air where they bleeped out Mother****er when hes trying to tell them how he got the nickname.

and in the film itself his nickname is bleeped out, as are 2 or 3 more fwords, its not a big deal, but its the STONES, they're supposed to be badass, this isnt some like superbowl thing, its a private dvd, why not leave them in? and if scorsese didnt want swearing in his movie...then why film the buddy guy story? and why allow some f-words....but..not all of them, anyway, we'll live im sure.

Well, yesterday my GF paid $19.99 (Sticker said $25.99 - should have paid $13.99 so she'll be getting a partial refund when she goes back) cause their web page "claimed" to have a SPECIAL EDITION so that's what she thought it was and what the Best Buy Brainiac employee told her. Turns out there is no Special Edition that I know of. All those "extras" - 4 songs, featurette, etc - are standard as far as I know, I just got my Amazon SAL DVD order and it looks exactly the same on the outside as the Best Buy one - keeping the wrapping on it cause now it will be a Birthday Gift for someone). As far as I know there's the Blu-Ray and non Blu-ray and that's it - oh, and of course there's always "Best Buy Mixed Up Confusion Shithead Service" but you get that as a free bonus with EVERYTHING you buy there anytime - that's why they call it "BEST Buy" I think......

If they say f*ck too many times it will really f*ck up society and everything will go haywire and topsy-turvey and things will never be the same again - never ever... WORDS ARE WEAPONS/SHARPER THAN KNIVES.......

I read somewhere that the reason the "F" word is bleeped out as much as it was is due to ratings. It is currently rated PG-13 and if the "F" word is used too many times the rating must be changed to "R". They should have allowed then and rated it "R" as only a true fan would buy it.

I've seen the unedited "version" in movie theatres in Germany and the UK and expected the same on DVD.
Perhaps the European release will be complete.
Time will tell.

THE BEST EVER VERSION of "Little T & A" as a bonus track is worth the purchase price alone.
This is NOT an opinion. It is the BEST VERSION EVER, it is better than the original, it is perfect.
lmao!

that was expurgated in the cinema version too.
dont think they couldve left motherfer in and gotten pg-13, that wouldve made it r. still, they shouldve taken the bllep out and left it uncut on the blu-ray.

Old dogs and same old tricks.

I'll wait two months and grab it from the bargain bins.

I gave myself a preview today, watching the featurette and the bonus songs. It is marvelous stuff.

Some of you make heavy weather out of not hearing someone say "f*ck". To complain about the bleeps is honestly ridiculous. We KNOW what they say, so it isn't a big deal. I plan on having my 11-yr-old daughter watch it with me, so I have no objections to the bleeps. She knows the word, but doesn't like hearing it. She DOES like the Stones, so I thank them for showing some courtesy towards the parents of young kids.

The featurette shows the band in an unplugged format, and maybe this bodes well for a future all-acoustic type of show. I think the hardcore fans would welcome this. "Stripped" revisited? Bring it on!

As for Ronnie, his playing is focused and a joy to hear.

My local Circuit City store shows the SAL dvd as backordered. I ordered the logitech X-540 5.1 speakers from this same store several months ago online for local pickup and they were supposedly "in stock". When I got there they weren't in stock. They don't know what happened or where they went!!.
I had the manager call another store and check stock, they had 4 sets of them in stock but they were across town. Like 20 miles!. So I relented and went to pick them up. It was raining and cold that day and I was in no mood for anymore BS from a large corporation. I got the speakers and the store manager gave me an extra 15% off for the mix up. The speakers were already on sale and the store manager at the first store had given me a 10% discount coupon which I used as well. I damn near got the speakers for free!
So, I can't complain if the DVD is BO'd because Best Buy is right down the road. And by the way those are the best sounding 5.1's that I have ever heard especially since they didn't cost me much at all. When I got home I hooked them up popped a cold Miller Lite and put ladies & Gentlemen on.
Far out!!!!!!!!!! I love corporate America.

I know this might sound somewhat stupid since it's expensive but I think you'll get what I'm getting at: would it be out of the question for people anywhere in Europe to order these little DVD players, the portable ones with the screens, from the U.S. and then, obviously, go ahead and order U.S. DVDs and be able to watch what you want when you want to since for some stupid reason these releases are so lagged behind the U.S. releases?

Just curious if anyone has 1. thought of this and 2. done this and 3. if it's even possible to do? I have no idea. That's why I'm asking.

Yes,skipstone
thought exactly that way,but on the other hand : no
Even if it´s childish or silly,I´m really angry about the stupidity of
the releasing date and consequently don´t want to put another "dust catcher"
in my shelf,but it´s not easy !
Anyway,I´ll stay strong and will wait angry smiley

by the way : the motherf..... Buddy Guy sequence is included on the soundtrack,
but not in the DVD ???

aw hell, I am just waiting for the "Director's Cut" which should have additional material.

How long do those usually take to come out after an initial DVD release, like a year to 3 years?

Umm, Max's KC, you're getting a little carried away, aren't you? I take it you have no children. Sure, there will probably be a later unbleeped version if you have a f*ckin' fetish with hearing the word "f*ck", but I'm f*ckin fine without it in the f*ckin' film. Is that f*ckin' OK with you?

Despite minor quibbles, the film is f*ckin' great.

I think my problem is with the BLEEPIN EDITING is,
I really want to see/hear it how it was, and once they
start editing, where does it stop? I detest EDITING IN OR OUT FAKESTUFF
Like how they they "edited " audience too by placing plasticfantasicfakes props down front.

Like the dictionary, Once you start editing words out, where do you stop?.
I say let it be. You can test a dictionary on if it include the nasty word
smegma..sure it is disgusting..but if some wise man decides to delte it
what else did he delte?

There was a great South park episoide based on Speilberg
editing the guns out of "ET" and they made fun of it asking,
what if he also edited the guns out of "Saving Privtae Ryan"...
then they showed a clip of how that would go.......pretty interesting.

Let the art stand on it own,in original form
Thus... if Mick fkn says FKN..... leave it..Mick knows...

I couldn't have said it any @#$%& better!
