they kind of did that already

They did? When?...Certainly not like Springsteen is doing these days.

I really liked "Not Fade Away" and that has me wondering, when was the last time, other than NFA during Voodoo, the opener was not a Jagger/Richards tune?

Let It Rock in 1978 + many of the pre-1969 openers i.e ENSTL.

I always thought Moon Is Up would be great for an opener, but that's prolly not gonna happen.

I go for a dark stage. Mick walks out with a spotlight on him. He bangs a cowbell a couple of times. Then Keith does the Honky Tonk Women intro. That would be tres cool.

There's no chance that the Stones will use Start Me Up as the opening song next tour unless they end up playing the odd town where it hasn't yet been used to start a show. They went from 1990 to 2002 without using the song in that slot and at that,it was used rarely as the opener on the '02 - '03 tour > a handful of times. It was used heavily that way in 2005 (North America) and in 2007 (Europe) plus a couple of times in 2006.They never use the same song to open on consecutive different tours. In fact, they go out of their way not to.An example is Columbus 2005 where they used Brown Sugar because they used Start Me Up in 2002 when Street Fighting Man was moved (in 2002) to the highlighted album section in the middle of the show as it was a Beggars Banquet showcase that night.

"The Last Time" - great, well known lick/song that hasn't been played that much.

That's a great idea but, only if it's really the last tour.

Yeah, since Licks Tour, they decided not to open with the same through the whole tour. They also changed during ABB tour (SMU, JJF, PIB, YGMR, IORR, BS I think). But all little more changings would be appreciated, wouldn't they ??

drift away, or sympathy for the devil. Long as their is a lot of fire, the opening song doesn't really make a difference to me. I care more about the meatier part of the setlist. The opening is always gonna be a "warhorse."

My all-time favorite is still "Let It Rock" (Detroit 1978), complete with the announcer saying, "..and now, from England, the Rolling f*cking Stones!". I'd love to hear them do that again, and have Michael Cohl offer that same introduction. To me, it beats the hell out of "...the greatest rock n roll band in the world", which was made up by Sam Cutler.

The only thing I'd like to hear Cohl say is that he is no longer affiliated with the Stones anymore.
