My first Stones show was 30 Years ago tomorrow! Wow! It does seem like it's been a long time but not 30 Years! Enjoy life everyone! It' shorter than you may think!
Hoping for an 09 Tour!

I've got a pretty bad quality dvd of some of the show. Not good at all but it does bring back memories! It also had some footage from saturday night live with the boys too!
I would love to see a good quality video from the show!

Yes Edith! Van Halen Kicking ASS! Then the Doobie Brothers! Both were Great! Then very, very late Stones! People getting rowdy! Great experience! I just wish I could remember more of the details as I was buzzing pretty good too! Lots and Lots of people in that Building! Counter said 183,000 plus!

I think it was closer to 83,000-plus, but I don't know the final total.
At the time, it was the record-holder for the most attended indoor concert, may still be.
Perhaps someone can verify.

Do you remember the Russian acrobats that they brought out to try to calm the crowd down when the Stones were so late comming on?

During the acrobat (which we thought was completely INSANE!), we walked to go use the restroom and get some food and drink and have a sit as our feet were killing us from being on them so long that day. I remember thinking that it was a stuipid idea if they thought these people were going to be interested in seeing her instead of the Stones! What a Crazy night!

My first Stones show also. Wasn't George Thorogood a warmer along with the Doobies & Halen? Or was that really the highest I've ever been in my life? Please tell me more about the Russian acrobat I apparently missed.

1981 had over 86,000 at the Dome.

Don't feel bad. I was at that show too and don't remember a damn thing about it.

Took a road trip with five buddies to NO from KC. Pretty fuzzy memories: Remember hitting the Quarter and hearing Miss You coming from one club after another. Hit it pretty hard for three days - stayed in an empty frat house at Tulane. didn't care for VH, remember Jeff Baxter with the Doobs sitting down with headphones on during their performance.

Stones smoked - but it was probably the most chaotic tour music-wise.

That was '81. In '81 they beat the '78 record with 87,000 in attendance.

Hi Fred - Mike and I had a party today to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this great show. The gymnast - who could ever forget that. The excitement the Stones generated when they FINALLY came on the stage can never be replicated for me. Nothing like the first time.

<<...and how late the Stones came on?>>

I would gladly have waited quite a few hours, as The Stones absolutely rocked at that show...also New Orleans was one of the few occasions they did SFM on that tour.

I really envy those of you who attended that gig!

My bad. It was actually over 87,500 - which somehow still holds the record for the biggest attended concert in a dome in the U.S.

At least, from what the websites say.

What is the record in Europe? And as far as that goes, how about outdoor stadia in North American and Europe and, might as well just go wherever, the world? For a rock concert, not for smutz like Barry Mannilow or Celine Donkers.
