OT - Canned Heat - Cookbook

As a sidelie from the Ronnie fiasco, lets discuss MUSIC. I picked up a copy of a Canned Heat compilation called Cookbook. I always discounted this band as blues bores, but actually this is great rock n roll. Call me 40 years too late, but what do you think about this band, any tales to tell? Any Stones links?

Maybe some stories might fall outta me head later on;
but till then I can say these chaps were one of the most
innovative artists in the rhythm & blues/boogie/12bar/blues-genre.

Another underrated "white" bloozer is Captain Beefheart.

Blind Owl had the blackest voice any man ever had since Howlin' or Muddy.

Ahhh The good Don Vliet. Check out his early Demos prouduced by David Gates, ya the Bread guy. whatever you may think of his more "out there" stuff Beefheart had one hell of a blues voice. and some of that stuff with some 17yr guy on guitar called Ry Cooder, what ever the feck happened to that wee lad ?

Ya Canned Heat, like em.
