If there was an IORR Hall of Fame for posts, Turd On The Run's would be an automatic choice for induction. Hits the nail on the head perfectly. Third paragraph especially.

Ronnie's just practicing the ancient art of heaving. In all seriousness, he is a nice guy (reputedly). Hope he gets well.

Turd On The Run
I know from personal experience how heartbreaking, frightening, unsettling, destabilizing and downright frustrating it is to live with a person vulnerable to alcohol. It is an insidious weakness and a grotesque, almost inexplicable disease. It is like living next to a ticking time bomb. No matter how long it has been since the last relapse...no matter how rational and happy and diligent they have been you're never more than a flash moment away from the next disaster. As much as you may love the person, there are times when you literally want to strangle the life out of them and be done with the long drawn-out tragedy. Ronnie's family must be going through hell...not to mention the humiliation of going through this in public. The Slavic Slut 'model' claiming true love is just further icing on the shite cake.
I've sometimes been very critical of Ronnie's playing and unprofessional conduct - and I've not always been a big fan of his musicianship. I've been to several Stones concerts in the last 33 years where Ronnie played hardly a significant note, some where he utterly ruined several songs (a gig in Cologne in 2006 comes to mind), and others where his mediocrity was utterly dispiriting. But I've been to others where he was firing on all cylinders (some shows in 1975 and 1978) and was on fire, and others where he was excellent and literally saved the night...including several concerts during summer 2007 where if it not for Ronnie's steady hand the Stones would have been a complete train wreck. I was disappointed that he did not contribute more to ABB...also as a consequence of his demon bouts...yet at other times he was right there on the front lines. Through it all - the ups and the downs - he's been a true Stone.
Yes, he is unstable...and exasperating...and also very lovable. Never mind all that. The fact is that we all owe him a HUGE debt of gratitude for all he has done for the band in the last 3 decades. Without Mr. Wood's mitigating presence and loyal friendship the chances of the Stones having survived their fallouts would have been very doubtful to nil. For this alone he is a hero. He may not have created an musical imprint as profound as Brian Jones, and his recorded output and live playing may not have the brilliance of Mick Taylor's...but he's been a loyal trouper, an occasionally excellent musician, and a soul-brother. The truth is he has pulled their nuts from the fire more than several times. Let's stand by him and his family in his time of need - there is no need to tastelessly contemplate on his "replacement" when he is down and out - showing our loyalty to Ronnie and respect for his family at this moment is the least we can do for a guy who has given so much of himself for the band.
I hope he gets it together and becomes once again a crucial creative element in new Stones music...and I'm looking forward to seeing him live again, standing where he belongs...with his band, stage right, grimacing as he snaps stinging notes from his guitar - hopefully from some hot new songs - and powering the Stones through another night of thrills and spills. Get well, Ronnie!

A bit cheap to call her a Slavic Slut 'model'.
Everybody is a bit of hooker in his or her's own way to make a living.

Er ... I've lost you. I'm not calling "her" a slut, I'm not calling her anything at all. I merely responded to your observation that everybody is a bit of a hooker in their own way in order to make a living, by saying that yes indeed I was too, because as much as I despise large oil companies, I'm currently working for one because they pay me bloody well to do so.
What the f*** has THAT got to do with the "slavic slut" ? (YOUR term for her, not MINE)
