Ian Stewart did the harmonica.

The last time Miss You was cool was on the Bridges tour. The version they play nowadays is way too uptight, it's supposed to all come down to that bass groove.

Maybe they should do Emotional Rescue instead. The chicks dig that tune.

the studio version is still my favorite actually. And live I think 78 was the best. the 89-90 versions were not bad though... If you can get past the synth-harp and the late 80's fashion this version from spain '90 is really good. the band and the crowd are really gettin down! Bobby Keys an Ron wood have good solos.

They should NEVER do Emotional Rescue. No matter how hot, chicks who dig that tune are too lame to warrant the pandering!

Hey, sometimes you just gotta take a stand, even if it means alienating some chicks. Or, as Beavis once said, "I don't know what's more fun: scaring chicks or scoring with them."

Well then - since it must be pointed out - you obviously hang with lame chicks.

You mean the 14 minute version where Keith would take a cigarette break, Mick would lick Lisa's shoes and half the audience would adjourn to the toilet?

It singlehandedly stopped every show I was at dead in it's tracks.

The best versions were definitely from "78". "81" version wasn't bad either.

Gazza, are there any vids on youtube of Mick doing that? I've never bothered to look! Because, well, it's Miss You.

Dunno - I actually rarely look for Stones videos on youtube as I've most of the better quality shows on video/DVD, but it was a nightly occurrence in 1998 and some of those shows like Bremen, Chorzow etc were broadcast.

best versions are 78-81-82 by far, ever since steel wheels it has become how do you say, a vegas version, just compare the shattered in europe version to anything post 82, thats what i think anyway, i know some still prefer the post 82 versions

Miss you is the best example of the Stones departure from raunchy rock 'n roll. Every time I hear or see it, it's become worse then the last time I witnessed it.

The 1998 Vegas version is just horrible. But admit it, back then the guitarplaying was better then from 2005-2007.

How 'bout a show where they play all the flouncy dance tunes...

Hot Stuff
Miss You
Emotional Rescue
Too Much Blood
Winning Ugly
Terrifying
Anybody Seen My Baby
Keys To Your Love
Rain Falls Down

and just get them all done, so some of them actually get played live at least once, out of the way, and then get back to the rock'n'roll? Heh heh....

The version from Handsome Girls is the best by far. The guitars are amazing and Ronnie really shines. Bill and Charlie really funk it up.

It's a subtle difference but the record does sound disco but the 78 live version sounds more funk rock to me.
