Stones lyrics using dirty words
Posted by: rollmops ()

Having late George Carlin in my thoughts, I started to think about dirty words in Stones songs. The 7 dirty words are : shit, piss, f..k, c..t, c.......er, moth....er and tits. It seems that the "C" word was never used in rolling Stones lyrics

There is a very well known song entitled C......er Blues.
It is officially unreleased, but they used it !!!
It is the final song they owed to ABKCO before the end of their contract.

Yeah that is the male "C" word also used in Rough Justice. I am talking about the female C word. They used "pussy" in StarStar as heard on "HandsomeGirls"

Not exactly Rolling Stones but on Ronnie Wood's Gimme Some Neck album there's a song called FUC Her. It alludes to the Stones' 70s record catalogue numbers that began COC when they were distributed by Atlantic and CUN when they went over to EMI. He sings

"A C.O.C. teaser, an ice cream squeezer
Her C.U.N. really do you in"

my all time favorite 'dirty' line in a Stones song...

"When the shit hits the fan, I'll be sittin on da can"

"When the Whip Comes Down" Some Girls, 1978
---------------------

"Doctor please, some more men please,
To Cotchford Farm, out by the pool...

What a drag it is they couldn't revive him"

Brian Jones 2/28/42 - 7/2/69

Please, let's clear this up once and for all

Casino Boogie lyric is

Kissing cut in cans

Not kissing c - - t in Cannes

Dietrich movies, close up boogies
kissing cut in cans (film cannisters), films, get it

Otherwise have a listen on headphones, it's definitely kissing cut in cans

Cheers

Its not - its "c*nt".

"Kissing cut" makes no sense. "Kissing c*nt" does. And he's doing it in Cannes - the town, which happens to be a few miles to the west from where they recorded the song. Theres also plenty of casinos a few miles to the east of Nellcote - namely Monaco.

And his pronunciation of the name of the town sounds closer to "Cann" than "cans" to me. And Cannes is pronounced with a silent 's'.

Mick Jagger not enunciating lyrics coherently? Surely not.

I never knew that, i just thought he was trying to be clever.

But what about all the other "abbreviations?" From memory, I recall SH1T, FUC (obviously), SIC and doesnt he call "her" an AH licker?

What about "Star Star"? Although I once saw it in a songbook with the refrain "you're a starbucker, starbucker, starbucker". :-) Of course there is also a couple of verses which were overdubbed in the original release. Not bad words necessarily, but as George would have said, bad thoughts (depending on your point of view). "tricks with fruit, kinda cute, I bet it keeps your p***y clean". Also "giving h**d to Steve McQueen".

In You Can't Always Get What You Want... he sings, "Go f*** yourself you c***"
although to many people it sounds like he says "I saw her today at the reception"

There are published lyrics to Casino Boogie (obviously bowlderized) that claim its "kids they're cutting cane."

Youre correct about the songbook, but there were a few 'sanitised' versions if lyrics in that one to keep a few censors happy, I presume (The song 'Rocks Off' was another one which had the lyrics 'cleaned up'..plus 'Casino Boogie' as Rocky mentions above

The Stones actually had problems with their record label when they first heard @#$%&. Apart from the song title which they chose to change, Atlantic were nervous about a possible injunction from Steve McQueen. The Stones sent McQueen a tape of the song and he okayed it.

There was also a radio edit of 'Star Star' which mixed out the word 'pussy'. Yet kept in the word '@#$%&' which is probably repeated about 30 times during the course of the song.....confused smiley

I never caught that line in "You C*nt Always Get What You Want." Thanks for posting! Nor did the "d-ranged" line register in "FUC Her" (incidentally I think Ronnie calls her "an AOR licker"). My old AtCo cassette tape of GOATS HEAD SOUP has "now that really is a scene" badly overdubbed on top of the lyric "keep your p*ssy clean" which was still plainly audible if you knew the words. The 1987 CD remaster and 1994 remaster gratefully omit this. Now if only Virgin would reissue TALK IS CHEAP without the silly "Shucks My Dear" overdub Steve Jordan added over Keith's "Sucks my d*ck" chorus of "I Could Have Stood You Up." I presume Virgin balked at that originally. The overdub is so over-the-top its laughable.

So what about "Piss" and "Moth......er"? Any songs with those two dirty ones to complete the list?

MFer is on "Champagne and Reefer" on SHINE A LIGHT if that counts. I don't think its an actual lyric anywhere. Althought I think it sounds like Mick says it as Mick Taylor's last solo starts on the studio recording of "Bitch" (mind you, it still wouldn't qualify as a lyric proper). Piss has to be there somewhere ("Dirty Work" maybe?). Mick said it during the Grammy Lifetime Achievement acceptance speech if that ranks honourable mention.

Mick says "I piss away me money" in "Where the Boys Go".

Good one, Gazza. I knew it was out there somewhere.

As for "I Could Have Stood You Up" on TALK IS CHEAP. Keith is singing "Sucks my d*ck" but Jordan overdubs the exaggerated "Shucks, my dear" on top of it. They don't bother covering the lyric live, gratefully.
