I stumbled across this old commercial! It's very funny with the Flintstones advertising cigarettes.

Plus...it does have to do with the stones. You know, everyone is named some kind of rock. lol.

Actually, during it's first run The Flinstones were on prime-time TV, like The Simpsons is now.

There was an episode of the Flintstones that featured "Mick Jadestone and the Rolling Boulders" Anyone remember?

I've been looking for a drawing titled "Stone Age" that appeared in an issue of Rolling Stone Magazine back in the late 80's or early 90's.
It depicted the Glimmer Twins as Fred & Barney. I remember Keith's guitar was fashioned out of a turtle with it's neck stretched way out.
I was hoping to find it online and post it here. Anyone happen to have it?

EG, I've got that picture matted and framed and hanging at my house. I'll try to scan it in. Funny picture!

I couldn't find it online either.

On a similar note, wasn't there a ruckus about Mighty Mouse snorting some white powder then getting super strength/power/ability to fly/etc. a few years back?

Here is the MM article:

During the 1980s, animator Ralph Bakshi (who got his start at Terrytoons) created a new series of Mighty Mouse cartoons, entitled Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures. In this series, Mighty Mouse had a real identity, Mike Mouse (Patrick Pinney voiced both identities of the character in this series), and a sidekick: Scrappy Mouse (voiced by actress Dana Hill), the little orphan. This series was aimed more at grown-ups than children, and its heavy satirical tone and humor makes it a collector's item even today; many collectors of older TV series seek out episodes of the Bakshi Mighty Mouse. The series was cancelled after two seasons, due to the controversy surrounding an episode in which Mighty Mouse sniffed a red flower he had crushed into a powder. Media watchdog Reverend Donald Wildmon asserted that he was actually snorting cocaine.

Steven Wright was at a table near ours once at the Bottom Line. Not sure who was playing it could've been either Suzanne Vega or Bela Fleck. I once saw Mick Taylor there.

I sure do remember this episode!! Although I think it was on the Pebbles & BamBam Flintstone Hour, which ran in the late '60's/early '70's. But I could be wrong

2 kinds of Stones for the Flintstones

Mick Jadestone and the Rolling Boulders - Rolling Stones parody from the "Pebbles' Big Boast" (10/23/71) episode of Hanna-Barbera cartoon The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show. Pebbles Flintstone (voiced by Sally Struthers!) lies that she knows this band in an attempt to impress snobby "friend" Cindy Curbstone (voiced by Gay Hartweg). She then tries to crash all their appearances in an attempt to get them to play Cindy's party. Not to be confused with Mick Jagged and the Stones. Thanks to Dr. Debra P. Maddox for this one.

What the hell kinda creature did Mick skin for that shirt?!
Mick Jagged and the Stones - Prehistoric Rolling Stones parody from the 2000 movie The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas. A prequel to 1994's The Flintstones, it shows how Fred (Mark Addy) and Wilma (Kristen Johnston) and Barney (Stephen Baldwin) and Betty (Jane Krakowski) met and paired up. The band is headlining at the Tardust casino, owned by scheming Chip Rockefeller (Thomas Gibson). Betty gets mad when she sees Barney with a showgirl and runs off with this (sigh) "rock band." Nice gag. Alan Cumming played Mick Jagged and also the alien Gazoo. Keith Rockhard was played by John Taylor, bassist for 80's bands Duran Duran and The Power Station. Other headliners at various Rock Vegas venues are shown only on signs, such as: Frank Stoneatra, Stony Bennett, and Slime and the Family Stone. Not to be confused with Mick Jadestone and the Rolling Boulders.
