try Ibis at the Valkenburgstraat. some of Tim's band stayed there two years ago.
Paradiso nearly always puts up their artists at the Parkhotel, that might be an option too: www.parkhotel.nl. Very close to Paradiso and the Leidseplein.
plenty of last minute opportunities in Amsterdam. Just Google and you are likely to succeed.
Last time at the bimhuis he did his new jazzy arrangement of Miss You, the one that is also on the Biggest Bang DVD, in the interview with Charlie. there you see the Paris recording. Tim told me that during that recording Charlie had spent 8 hours in the studio with him and the band (Bernard, Michael , Franck Amsallam(piano) and Thomas Bramerie(bass) incl), without complaining: it was 40 degrees Celsius, no airconditioning...!
I think he might be up for that at the Bimhuis again. He is releasing his Stones World CD in September, so I reckon it might be followed by a promotional tour. The main focus will be on the Stones Project though
I switched us to Valkenburgerstraat - it is much cheaper. The Stationplein IBIS sucks like IBISs but it was convenient. I stayed at Stationplein IBIS during the 1998 shows.
Jul 15: Tim Ries Rolling Stones project in Europe this week Tim Ries and his Rolling Stones project will do shows in Europe this week, starting on July 17 in Amsterdam at the Bimhuis, then July 18 at the Malta Jazz Festival, and finally on July 20 at the Portoroz Jazz Festival in Slovenia. Tim Ries will be performing with friends and great musicians including Darryl Jones, Michael Davis, Bernard Fowler, Marc Miralta (drums) from Barcelona and Frederick Favarell (guitar) from Paris
all of which was arranged by our friend The Juf!!!! way to go, pauline! give bernard a big hug from me!!!
Listened to a lot of Tim Ries & Co at work today thinkng about how great it would be to have been in Amsterdam seeing the show instead of working a 14-hour day in a little cubicle in Chicago! Any word on the show tonight? I'm sure it was great. They always are. Hopefully, they'll take the Project back to the States for a mini-tour. If they need any help with arrangements in Chicago, always willing to lend a helping hand!
Good luck with the new CD coming out... looking forward to the release date!
