PayPal(l) Fraud
Posted by: Baboon Bro ()
Date: May 13, 2008 10:44

So now they are out huntin' hillbillies again.

Yesterday I got mail from "PayPal" who wanted me to confirm
my credit card number, because there had been some (security) issues.

If you get such a mail, do n o t enter your credit card number.
Luckily I didnt, thou I saw too tired to see the mail addy
spelled: "paypall" ...........

Some hostage server in Denmark is used for this; I just
wrote & warned the (probably totally innocent) owners.

Just an alert!

Thanks for the warning Baboon Bro. PayPal warns people all the time for these fake emails, and never to give your credit card details.

This happens all the time. Phishing. Everybody want your money. Good advice: Get broke. Then there is nothing to take.

Get broke? If I have not money on my bank account, the seller can be paid by paypal, my bank account should be more negative, nothing more.

Hmm, now that wasn't a good idea to write back to them^^

those mails get generated by spam-bots and they randomly generate email addresses.
but now they have your valid email address - they like that.

one shouldn't touch those spam & phishing mails - just delete them.
if you want to warn anyone, report it to some antiphishing sites,
like this: [www.antiphishing.org] or to PayPal directly or your countries government whatever section may be in charge.

Hey, Charlie.. Didnt know it was spam!Perhaps I'm easy to fool.
I didnt write to the faruders either, I wrote to the hijacked dude
in Denmark, as a matter of fact he lives close to Sohoe.
He has nuthin to do with this, he's just an ordinary, decent enterprise man.

But its good you state one shouldnt touch spam or junk mail.
But when you use MSN as your main addy, it's a tough biz out there.
Much normal mail do fall down the junk box.

Ok, so you didn't know it was spam in the first case - but your reaction to it is something I'd never do or recommend.

You only think/ believe you wrote to the hijacked dude
in Denmark, as a matter of fact he lives close to Sohoe. are you sure?

Another sure sign of scam emails supposedly coming from ebay or PayPal ,

These sites if you've dealt with them know your user name .
The emails they typically send are addressed to , ebay member or PayPal customer . These are a sure sign of a scam .

Heck yeah, you should be worried if you followed a given link.

I suggest you change your password at PP and check if something fishy's been going on.
before you go there, clear your browser cache and cookies, then type the address in by hand and make sure the ssl (secure sockets layer) is active.

I'm sorry, but I really can't believe that people still fall for these tricks.
If there is an email from a person you don't know, never open any attachment. If there is anyone asking you for a password or anything, never click on the link in the email.

I get sometimes mails from the "IRS" that ask me for my checking account number so they can refund me. Yeah right; I don't even work in the USA.

I'm sure that some greedy people fall for this kind of crap.

If you get any emails like this or from any US Government Agency, please forward a copy to me at gtrbluz@yahoo.com so I can desiminate the information to the right people.
