more tat from RS.COm, clearly aimed at the American market.
Mother's Day, in the UK, was on March 2nd.

I love the way they assume everyone worldwide commemorates American holidays and events.

Let alone the belief that we're going to do by spending exorbitantly overpriced amounts on dog turds with tongues on them or something equally silly.

I've marked the RS.COM emails as SPAM. I thought that was putting it mildly.
It seems that email-software doesn't have any more proper words available

First of all - this is not an attack on the USA or Americans! (It's my second home country and I love the States, not the foreign policy at all times, but I love America.)

But I find it provoking that RS.com, the fan club to whom many of us Europeans have paid our membership fees for years, exclude us from taking part in several competitions. That's worse than assuming we have the same holidays and mother's day celebrations.
RS.com obviously don't regard us as equal members, and thats discrimination. I've cancelled my memberships.

Hmmmm. A dog turd with a tongue on it would actually make quite an interesting present. Not exactly run of the mill. Good suggestion.

Anyone know anything about who is involved with this kind of marketing?
I'm wondering what happens when the Stones sign off their likeness for use on merchandise.
Are the Stones themselves involved firsthand in selecting what goes out, or is it more of a case where they sign over their name & likeness to a company that is given a certain range to work with in selecting what type of merchandise is marketed?

well..Jake Cohl (son of you know who) is heavily involved with the website. I know that years ago the Stones (Mick and Charlie especially) were heavily involved in what was being merchandised, but the increasing amount of kitsch and tat sold in their name gives me the impression that (like certain aspects of their musical releases) in more recent times theyve taken the easier, but more artistically redundant, option of letting someone else have more control in what's being put out.

I personally find it hard to believe that a man like Keith Richards sits down with some kind of catalogue and a couple of marketing guys and decides that selling a bobble headed doll or a halloween mask with his face on it is something that his image really needs. If he (or the rest of them) does this, I'm undecided as to whether that or the alternative that they dont give a shit and just leave everything to someone else, is the most alarming scenario.

I've seen Rolling Stones mouse pads before, but recently couldn't find one.
Perhaps I didn't do enough searching.

I settled on this instead:
