What I'm reading is that it is just a conversion from wav (redbook cd standard) to WMA lossless.

Digital ears ? That just might work.
You certainly won't fool the old analogue models with most current technology.
What's really pissed me off about digital music storage media is that as speed and capacity has increased to allow adequate levels of quality and resolution...we haven't really taken advantage of it.
The industrty has not established or marketed a high quality solid state storage medium or software standard for domestic music playback.
The technology is there...but who of the millions of people conned into accepting MP3 has even heard of it ?
