the most perfect Stones gig EVER

Hi all,
it`s been a while since I wrote last time.'
It´S Eastern here in Finland, time to relax and enjoy your holidays.
I spent some time listening and/or watching many, and I mean many, live RS gigs during past days. Of all the material it gives me a great pleasure to give my five cents here:
The best Rolling Stones gig EVER must be the MSG gig performed in Four Flicks. I mean the energetic performance, set list, Keith in good shape, the audience and the production of the gig.
Of all the live cds and dvds (official and bootlegs) I`m willing to choose this the perfect gig. Just watching it and smiling..

Wesley

.. and many people like those Buenos Aires gigs.. I`ve seen them and I really like them.
The horn section with guitars in MSG, it`s something I would call perfect

A perfect Stones gig muct be not perfect.
For me Circus Stockholm 03 and 2nd day in Frankfurt 1982, 30th June.
But there are many more gigs which I enjoyed from the brain to the toe.

Forest National, Brussels, Belgium, October 17, 1973, early show, i.e., the Bedspring Symphony show. Some of those summer '72 and winter '73 shows come awfully close, however.

Every few years, I'll hear a really great new Stones boot and think, "It's as good as Bedspring." Then I put on Bedspring, just to be sure, and think, "Nah!" Keef's riffing sounds like he's got an iron fist, and Taylor's never been better.

BTW, I went to the MSG 2003 show of which you speak. Great show, but it ain't Bedspring. The MSG show from the previous September, with the Exile mini-set and Mannish Boy on the B-stage, was every bit as good.

The closest thing to perfect for me is this one:

It's difficult to choose.

the best Rolling Stones gig I have been to is Nice (France) in august 2006.

Every fan in the fos section (at least every fan I spoke to) agrees it was the best show we have seen or heard... absolutely magic and incredible...

Among the other ones, I love the Paris 76 shows (from bootlegs) and knebwortn 76. Love you live is my favorite Live CD.

I don't like very much the others.. I think the sound on the others live CD looks very nice but too much commercial and a little bit far from a real performance.
(If commercial can applies to our men.. which are very good at business and at rock'n roll.. but when I am thinking about their potential.. maybe not so good at business (!!!))

St.Louis 1997 ?
Strong versions of Satisfaction, LSTNT, Out Of Control, IORR, Jumping Jack Flash - just to name some of them.
Maybe the best solo from Keith on Satisfaction. Mick's singing is just brilliant, Ronnie, too. Cahrly is even smiling sometimes, so...

I would say Bremen 1998. They all were playing really great, especially Keith. And the audience was good, too!!!

They were perfect at WOODSTOCK in 1969. Not that many fans caught the show cause they came on after HENDRIX (who rocked all of us on Monday morning) after the crew had run out of film and recording tape (and many of us had work or school to attend to - damn shame no record or film of the show is floating around cause RAMBLER was just AMAZING !!!

the HBO version of RAMBLER is the best modern day version ever imho, and by modern day i mean since 89

Enmore Theatre in Sydney in Feb 2003.........for the first (and only) time ever, they opened with Midnight Rambler.

Check out the set list in the archives here, the choice of numbers and only 1200 or so in the theatre, now thats what I call perfect....

I was front row on the B stage for the September show, and, yes, Mannish Boy was great as was the whole show.

However, the opening song SFM was lame. There was no lead guitar. Just an 'easy listening' 'soft rock sounds' version.

The guy next to me said 'is Ron Woods' guitar even plugged in?'

A Ya Yas powerful lead was needed.

Ron could do it too . . . if allowed to.

What? Is that a joke? They didn't play Woodstock, did they?

Any report of Woodstock is most definitely a joke.

from the bootlegs I have seen - Hampton 81,
from the official releases - 4 Flicks (all of them)
