They're playing here (Zürich) on Wednesday night and I want opinion of people who've seen them before. I only like a couple of their songs and actually find R. Smith's vocals nauseating at times, but... I'm sucker for live music. Should I go?
I've seen them three times, a few years ago, and those concerts are still the most boring I ever saw, I nearly fell asleep, literally.
The third time I went I even took a paperback, went to the bar and sat there till the concert ended. I had to go to the shows to accompany a few disabled people and was actually looking forward to it, as I like a lot of their songs, but performance-wise it was lacking everything.
In comparison, here's a few examples of concerts that I enjoyed over the past few years: Radiohead, U2, The Who, Sonny Rollins, David Bowie...
I like The Cure, but I have never seen him live. I've always wondered how thier stuff would translate live and I have heard mixed things about thier live shows.
Last two shows this tour in Poland were about 190 min. Each show is full of songs from one record for ex. In Warsaw it was almost full Disintegration and Pornography , in Katowice it was Wish album night. I heard there will be dvd from Warsaw, there was lots of cameras and Smith was talking a lot which is not very usual. I saw Cure during Bloodflowers tour and they were awsome. I think it is one of those unique band which is always worth to see and you can expect suprises from Smith&Co.
Can you help me? I'm trying to find any relation beteween Cure and the Stones... I read some time ago that Robert used to make some Stones versions when he started to play, but that's all. Thanks
There is no apparent relation. That why it says "OT" in the title of the topic, meaning "off topic", so that you can skip this thread if you're not interested.
There is a relation: There are some people here who love the Stones but also like to go to other bands concerts.
Nooooo! You don't understand me. I saw the OT, and this post makes me think about the relation between both bands, so, better than start another treat (something like: OT: Relation between the Cure and the Stones)... I used this one. Many thanks anyway.
