Terrible news. A prayer for your friend.

That is an unbelievably sad story. He got to spend his last moments playing music with his good friend, open-g, cheering him on from the crowd. He's lucky to have had such a good friend. I'm sorry you had to experience and witness such a tragic loss. Godspeed to Zosche and those who loved him.

Sorry to hear that mate. I had a drummer friend who died in exactly the same way, onstage with a band. Maybe there's some consolation in the fact that they died doing what they loved most. Take it easy.

Thanks for the slideshow open-g. I think it is a great way to honour your friend. I sincerely hope it can give some comfort to you.

I remember that not too long ago, another friend of you died, if I remember correctly, was his name Kai? Anyway, the track you posted and which you recorded with him ("House On The Hill") is still amongst my favourites. And now Bernd - "Zosche" - Ulrich, another tragic loss. I feel with you. And if you have a track with Zosche on drums - please post it. Let him speak through his music. I think he would like it.

Just curious - where did Zosche come from? I remember that a guitar player of my band once (twenty years ago?) mentioned that one of his (cousins?) lives in Berlin, playing in a band too - drums. His last name was Ulrich. So I am a bit curious ... it might again be a case of the world being smaller than one thinks it is ... then again, it can be pure coincidence.

I'm a drummer myself and when I think about it, if I had to pick a time
to go, while I was playing drums would be on my list.

My guitar player died a couple of years ago. We didn't know each other back in 66 but we both went to see the Stones that year. We got to see them again together in Charlotte a few years ago. I'm sorry to say he was killed walking across a dark busy street. I made a web site to remember him for his friends.

open-g, my heart broke for you reading this sad sad story. To lose a friend is a terrible thing, to see them go right in front of you... no words. You are one of my all-time favorite posters, I sincerely wish you well. I think Erik said it best, he died doing what he loved, and he's right, there is no better way to go.

Seeing Shine a Light now will be bittersweet, but you certainly must go. I'm sure your friend would want you to. Hopefully there will be some other IORRers there who will give you support and maybe a drink or two.

Not only did Kaj die not too long ago - on the nearly same day, January 31st in 2002 our guitarist Carlo Karges (ex Nena Band) died. Zosche on February 1st 2008.

i feel so bad for you. In this time of sadness, I hope I can do a little something to help you out as you have helped me out so many times in various ways.

There is no way of avoiding the pain, but eventually you find a way to deal with it and things will get a little better. You may never completely come to terms with it, but I know you love life as he apparently did and you will get thru this and love life again.

My sincere condolences to you and to all Zosche's family and friends. I'm so sad for you that your friend died in such a sudden and shocking way. Your friend was a musician and his spirit will live on in the music that he created. Remember that and remember all the happy times that you shared. They mean far more than the awful time that you suffered last night.
