If you mean one RS disc that contains a period of my interest - Metamorphosis.
Also because it has 'Downtown Suzie' on it which is a song that keeps me dreaming. Bill wrote this, the vocal arrangement is very cool.

This is a pretty goofy compilation and I am really surprised that I was able to find it with a Google search. It is called "The Rolling Stones" and was a German cassette-only release from Decca.

I bought it in a record store in Portland,OR in the fall of 1983 when I was 18 to have some Stones to listen to in the car and because it was cheap.

I played the hell out of this for years and it introduced me to Memo From Turner (the good soundtrack version) as well as 2000 Lightyears and We Love You.

It's actually a pretty good mix with a sort of bewildering but fantastic tracklist:

Honky Tonk Women
Memo From Turner
Gimme Shelter
Street Fighting Man
Carol
Sympathy For The Devil
Jumpin’ Jack Flash
2,000 Light Years From Home
We Love You
The Last Time
Paint It Black
(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction

Somebody has one for sale on Ebay:

You all seem to have overlooked the Get Stoned compilation which came out in the UK not too long after Rolled Gold.

Hate to admit I like the dreaded "Rarities" because of "Anyway you look at it" - not a very typical Stones track and not on any other record/CD i've come across.

I like "any way you look at it too" especially the line "Life it has more twists and turns than found in any book". How true.

And how about the single line Keith sings ending with that drawn out 'anyway..'?

Very Liverpudlian pronunciation for a Southerner! Makes you wonder who was around at the recording, given Mick's tendency to imitate the accent of whoever he's with at the time.

I found a rare (well, presumably rare) compilation in a used CD shop in Montreal called "Oop Stones". (I do not know what this means, perhaps it is French?) Anyway, it included:

Emotional Rescue
Too Much Blood
Shattered
She's So Cold
Neighbors
Star, Star
Short and Curlies
Where the Boys Go
She Was Hot
Far Away Eyes
I Wanna Hold You
Slave
Let Me Go

Mine was a 2 lp set called The Rolling Stones Greatest Hits that was only available thru a TV ad in the mid 70s. Same as Hot Rocks song wise but it had a great commercial which included clips of the band (inc. the JJF video) and got me at age of 12 hooked on them.

Well, remember most of those comps are not directily affiliated with the Stones themselves (ABKCO).

Forty Licks edits -

Miss You - UK single edit (the US edit still has sax in it) Either way if I never hear this song again it'll be too soon

Beast Of Burden - single edit. Sick of this one too.

Fool To Cry - single edit. Really sick of this one too.

Mixed Emotions - single edit. I actually still like this one. Somewhat.

Anybody Seen My Baby - single edit. I think this is a cool tune.

Undercover Of The Night - single edit (or maybe done especially just for this to help keep the fans happy - that's a joke) WOW I'm so glad this really cool track but horrible tune made their greatest hits comp when it's really...there were better tunes to select from to put on this comp...

Emotional Rescue - single edit - This is the same edit as the video single. Damn. Even shorter it's still a bizarre song and, well, who cares? They've never played it live...

It's Only Rock'N'Roll - Licks edit - if this could be shorter I wish it was.

It seems obvious they could have put better tunes on this thing. I don't mind the new tunes, OK, fine, but maybe it could have just been Don't Stop and Losing My Touch. No matter - I've made my own Licks comp and it's a hell of a lot better than this one.
