Hall & Oates' 2cd anhology. I used to hate them, then a couple of years ago had an itch to hear 'Private Eyes'. I decided they're good, so it's not really guilty pleasure anymore, even if my friends try to shame me when they see the comp lying around my house
"What the f&*@ are you doing with THIS!?"

i don't feel guilty about listening to music i enjoy.
If a melody or a lyric makes a connection, its a nice thing.

Some of the finest and most intricate musical arrangements
were written/composed by Abba.
Great pop music, but deemed by idiots, who
can't appreciate or spot, talent and skill as 'uncool'

don't succumb to peer pressure - enjoy what you enjoy.

The ultimate uncool, guilty pleasure of mine has to be "Glen Campbell Live at the Garden State Theatre 1969". Alas, it was never brought out on CD, but my mini-disc-from-tape-from-vinyl recording gets an airing every now and then, as he croons through some of Jimmy Webb's finest creations.

Sadly, his career went quickly and completely MOR and that was it.

Doris Day, before she was a virgin, did a lotta great stuff with the Swing Jazz crowd

Before she was a virgin? Is that possible?

It's a (miss)quote from Groucho Marx who once famously said he knew Doris before she was a virgin. Her early stuff is hot, nothing like the later film stuff she did.

Poison by Alice Cooper. I'm ashamed, but there's something about this song...

Aw I think that whole Alice Cooper album is great!

My most guilty pleasures would have to be Cyndi Lauper's Greatest Hits, The Partridge Family Greatest Hits, Beyonce's Crazy in Love, and all of Christina's stuff - that girl can sing.

Chas N Dave

I saw Chas N Dave support Eric Clapton at the Glasgow Apollo in 1981 and they were absolutely brilliant. Seems unlikely but they were the perfect warm-up for Clappers.

I like Roger Whittaker. Great singer and has stories to tell. He's a pretty good whistler too...

naw - nothing wrong with that. In my book, it's only worth doing a cover version if you're going to make it completely different to the original - so much so that a person who didn't know it was a cover would enjoy the song on its own merits.

i have been listening to High School Musical 2 with my son all the time lately because he loves it. Now I sing along too, and the damn things are stuck in my head all day long.

Still good night out now. And at the end you can meet them and buy a signed CD!

In reverse- I wonder if, on other artists fan sites (particularly young, trendy popsters) The Stones would be regarded/classed as a guilty listening pleasure?

"SOS" by Abba is great, as is "MMM Bop". One man's opinion, of course.

I was gonna say Abba as well. But actually I have no guilt. After all, Good Music is Good Music, no matter who or what. If it moves you that's all that matters.
I don't really care WHAT anybody else thinks of it.

I guess Def Leppard, although I seem to have misplaced Vault. I had High 'N' Dry - a superb album, Pyromania, Hysteria and Adrenalize, got rid of all of them, got Vault and I guess I got rid of that one.

But for some reason a part of me wants to get the re-released Hysteria with all the b-sides and live tracks....

Yeah, I've always thought that term "Guilty Pleasure" was ridiculous. As a few other folk have noted on here, I don't feel guitly about any music I may love and I don't care whether it's deemed acceptable by the hipsters and/or critics or not. From Black Flag to the Bee Gees, if the song moves ya, it's a great thing and absolutely no shame should be felt.

The Knack - My Sharona and Frustrated.
Boston - first album. A sonic masterpiece.
Cheap Trick - first album. Power pop at its best.

Chicago (first three albums) Blood sweat and tears, I love a good horn section even if the songs are cheesy for the most part

oasis. don't really feel guilty about it, as they've got some decent songs but I know, they're pretty much hated by critics. but as andrewm noted, that shouldn't mean a lot to ya.
