Too bad...last time I was in Chicago, I only stood outside the studio

I'd love to tag along. Does anyone have a photo of the Stones' infamous "press conference" they held in the middle of Michigan Avenue?

Shoot, it took me forever to find this thread again.

I think some of you were interested, but not until this spring. Believe it or not, spring has arrived (from time to time) in Chicago.

Anyone interested in this field trip??

definitely. i've been thinking about it too. i'm immersed in trying to find some home to buy. there are actually "chess lofts" associated with the studio. i assume i can't afford one but i'd love a loft.

shall we arrange it around blues fest as someone suggested?

That's a good tie-in. Is it available for tours at that time?

Here's the hours.... I'd be very interested in tagging along. I do have a couple of things going on that weekend (like our granddaughter's 1st dance recital); that takes precedence even over Bluesfest on Saturday! It may actually be better to go to both Chess & Bluesfest during the week... less crowds. They have a great lineup for all 4 days and with it being their 25th anniversary, it should be a record turnout if the weather cooperates!

Chess hours: Mon-Fri 12pm-3pm, Sat 12pm-2pm

I went to school at Columbia. I thought - I can't remember - it is now part of Columbia? Something like that. It's not a studio anymore I think. But as you can see I do not know.

Cosimo Matassa's studio in New Orleans. I used to go there all the time - to do my laundry when I lived one block away on Dumaine St.

Famous places don't seem to stay.

The St Valentine's Day massacre building - it was a laundry place back in the early 1990s. I remember reading all about Capone and went and found the building by happenstance.

when does SAL leave the IMAX?

i'd like to go again regardless of whether it's coordinated with Chess.

Pauly, we can go to Chess again when you fly in for the next Stones show!

my schedule is flexible so i guess it's up to the majority of people who have stricter schedules...

A tour of Chess sounds wonderful!

Perhaps you can follow up with a field trip to Los Angeles and favorite Rolling Stones "sites" (many still in existence)

I'd be happy to show you around.

This year's lineup is probably the best yet! We're heading down Thursday afternoon.... to avoid some of the crowds that'll be there on the weekend and yes, to see Honeyboy Edwards and Pinetop Perkins following. Johnny Winter & James Cotton rounding up the night. Caught a bit on Honeyboy last year at the Blues on the Fox festival... it was about 93 degrees out that afternoon and Honeyboy stuck around for a good 1/2 hour or so after his performance to meet & sign for his fans.

Summer's here and the time is right for dancin' in the streets!!
