Jagger's finest moment may well be the way he sings the lines, "I understood for once in my life" on She Smiled Sweetly. The way Charlie underscores the line may be his best moment too. In reality though, there have been so many through the years. Here's hoping for many more.

'Baby Break It Down' from Voodoo Lounge. I keep banging on about this seldom mentioned song. I think Mick's vocal is fantastic. Youthful and fluid sounding.

<That's How Strong My Love Is>

When? Not the studio version?

There have been several fine moments. Countless.
But in my ears, and in my heart, there's one moment that stands out. During the club show at Cirkus in Stockholm in 2003, Mick did an unbelieveable version of "That's How Strong My Love Is". He was whispering, screaming, crooning - the lot. I was very embarrassed when I started to cry towards the end of the song. But I soon realised that even 6feet tall men around me had tears in their eyes.

The final note: Keith holds his arm out, reaches towards Jagger. "That's THE MAN! That's MY man!" Then he gives Mick a hug. And I can't be sure, because I was standing 25 feet away from them, but I think I saw a tear in Jagger's eyes, too. By this time I was crying openly, and not the slightest ashamed of it.
This was not only the finest Jagger-moment I've experienced, it is also my best Stones-memory - a true golden moment.
If you can get hold of the Bootleg from Crystal Cat from the show at Cirkus in Stockholm... Do not hesitate - just buy it.smiling bouncing smiley

His vocals on "Street Fighting Man"
"Under My Thumb" - "ain't it the truth, babe?"
"I Think I'm Going Mad" - when he mumbles "You ought to see my shaking hands..."
"Loving Cup"
When he yells "Save Me!" in "Criss Cross"
"Going To A Go-Go" - "It doesn't matter if you're black, AHHHHHH...."
"Muh Muh Muh a Muh Muh a Monkey! in "Monkey Man"
"There must be ways!" in "Sway"
"It pick you up, and it knock you down!" at the end of "Hand of Fate"
"Give us a kiss....now twist!" at the end of "@#$%&"

AND COUNTLESS OTHERS.......spodlumt

Jagger has had some of the finest moments any musical performer/entertainer has ever had, both onstage and on recordings, for me they are simply too many to put down without boring everyone to death with a ridiculous list 2 pages long. Satisfaction is perfection. His performance on Midnight Rambler (studio version) is breathtaking. Laugh I Nearly Died is another peak. There are countless other highlights.

But if I had to choose just one defining moment it has to be his vocal performance on You Cant Always Get What You Want. In this song he cements his reputation as the finest Rock singer on the planet. His reading is simply flawless, just spectacular.

From his opening lines, sung in a pensively rueful tone...

"I saw her today at the reception...a glass of wine in her hands"

...he assumes total command of this genre re-defining masterpiece. From this point onward he slowly and subtly ramps up the anger and shifts the tone - stanza by stanza - into a tightly-wound, malevolent cry of outrage.

And then it comes...the moment that raises the hairs at the back of the neck and pushes the whole performance into the stuff of legend...as the heavenly London Symphony choir enters with a groundswell, lifting their collective voices to the heavens, Lucifer flies in and lets loose with an apocalyptic howl RIGHT INTO THEIR FACES! ARRRRRGHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The act is so cathartic and so profane...the set of brass balls it takes to even think of doing this!

And then the choir lifts off and the song goes into overdrive.

The final stanza is magnificent...as the tempo slows one last time before the purgative, orgasmic finale...

"I saw her today at the reception,
In her glass was a bleeding man,
She was practiced at the art of deception,
Well, I could tell by her bloodstained hands..."

Poetry. Pure poetry.

And then the choir takes us into the realm beyond dreams...the song literally fading UP instead of out. Whew. After hearing this song LOUD you simply have to stop and hear the silence. Nothing can follow it up. The music must stop...if only for a while. Listening to anything else before the afterglow wears off is like following up a glass of 80 year-old Single Malt Scotch Whiskey with a glass of Coca-cola.

Perhaps Jagger's finest moment.

Great stuff, all of you before me. Making me bust out some oldies and some "deep trax!"

I think that among Jagger's best moments are:

1. The "Oh Yeah" at the beginning of Rocks Off/the rest of the song - grab yer packages, people!
2. Back of My Hand - my God!
3. Jumping Jack Flash
4. Hey Crawdaddy - 65 Olympia
5. When the Whip Comes Down
6. Prodigal Son - oh so f%^king cool!
7. Jumpin Jack Flash - Saville 69 ("get the f%^k outta here!")
8. Winter
9. 2000 Man
10. Altamont - he kept that band TOGETHER!

I could go along with most that's been posted here, but thought i would go with something that hasn't been mentioned yet I love the part in - Lets Spend the Night Together when he start's to build the song up with :-

You know I'm smiling baby
You need some guiding baby
I'm just deciding baby; now-
I need you more than ever
Let's spend the night together
Let's spend the night together now

Then he goes off on one.....love it!

Exactly! I think that in that song Jagger shows almost all the strenghts and rich nuances of his voice. I especially like the natural way he is making duets with himself. There are hints of that in "Laugh I neraly died", but I think the result sounds more forced..

The whole slow 'flip side' of TATTOO YOU is really a Jagger show (starting from gay-high-octave "Worried" to the nasal earthy voice of "Friend").

GSTONE, just reading that made my eyes misty! Don't feel bad, I've cried many times at Stones concerts! Well,I have to say I agree with ALL of the above choices, especially Gazza's singling out " Let It Loose" which is my all-time favorite Stones song, along with " Wild Horses". There was a thread not long ago about Mick's vocal on the Chieftan's " Long Black Veil" so I must add that to the long list of great moments. I find that most of EXILE was a turning point for the band and especially for Mick as a vocalist. He seemed to have found new stength, and he attacked the vocals, not just sang the words. This is not to say his vocals during BB, Sticky Fingers and Let It Bleed were not top-notch! Maybe HE finally listened to the power and potential in his voice. It must be hard to critique your own voice, amd a great example is Jimi Hendrix who said on many occasions that he did not like his singing voice at all! Mick is so many leagues above the rest of the pack as far as a vocalist and front man that it's silly to even compare him to others. It's nice to read everyone's favorites; I love ALL of the choices!

the way he sings:

"There ain't no train coming baby" no use in crying

"Drink in your summer
Gather your corn
The dreams of the night time
Will have vanished by dawn" time waits for no one

"I'm stuck (...) cry, cry, cry
Sleeping in the doorway
(...) a rendez-vous and I'm stuck (...) baby
Cry, cry, cry..." the end of Through the lonely nights

And then Shattered, Miss You and Dance (pt1 and 2)

The way he danced from 1975 to 1982.
