My very favorite Ronnie album. I saw that add as well, as I have the same version. I wish I woulda known about it back in 81 but I was 5!! That's a steal though - his work nowadays is so friggin expensive.

Great album, good production, mostly good songs and it rocks.

opinions are surprisingly varied on ron's solo albums. It seems like each album has someone saying it's the best, others saying it's the worst. Maybe the first one is exempt from that, but it's interesting that there's no standard narrative about his albums. There used to be one about Slide On This--that it was his best--but I notice that the connoisseurs around here have revised that opinion.

I also have the japanese vinyl replica of 1234.
It's an excellent album. It has a few 'fillers' - but the rest of the album makes up for them. Ronnie's first 4 solo albums are maybe the best solo records by any stone

Yes. Seven Days is from Gimme Some Neck. And the best live version from Slide On Live. Dylan's own version sucks.

Dylan's version of 76 is a knockout...

On bootleg? I only know the version from The Bootleg series 1-3 (or was it Biograph?)

Ok, we disagree on that one, don't we.

I think Ronnie sounds too coked up on 1234. It's not my favourite Ronnie album. Songs like Outlaws and the title track are good, but the rest of the songwriting and performances doesn't impress me.

Ronnie's two first albums still stand rock solid as masterpieces. I still like Not For Beginners. Something about the feel of the album...
