Has anyone purchased the Rolling Stones wine? Or more importantly...has anyone tasted it?

Is it any good?

Just got the Christmas email from the Cellar/Seller and wondering....

Rather buy some good wine and put a sticker on it.
Or just buy some good wine and listen to the Stones smiling smiley

Yeah, that's true. But I can't imagine that the wine is of such great quality to justify the price.
Wouldn't be worth it for me.

For those of you in the states, go out and buy your favorite bottle of wine at Costco, Bev Mo, Trader Joe's or Cost Plus, (hopefully Europe has the equivalent). Not sure whats good? If you like a certain type wine (ie: Merlot, Chardonnay, etc) and you spend about $20 for the bottle, it will already be a better bottle than the $40 or $95 wines on the RS site. If you find one rated 90 points or more, better yet.. Then go home and take off the label. With your CD or DVD label maker, create your own Rolling Stones wine label and stick it on the bottle. result...a higher quality if wine at a fraction of the cost.

I am partial to Pinot Noir, although I am not very
educated in the hobby of wine appreciation.

I have noticed there is not much difference in bottles
under $20, and you need to spend more than that for the better stuff.

While in France a couple of years ago, I picked up a
bottle for about 16-18 euro (not much more than $20.)
I just wish I could remember the maker, because it was
absolutely the best wine I have ever tasted.
Had I known what I was buying, and if it was available
where I live, I would expect to pay several times what I paid.

Did I just get lucky when I found this bottle, or
is it normal to find quality wine at such a
reasonable price in this part of the world?
The wine I'm speaking of was a Pinot Noir I found at
a shop on Rue Saint-Martin in Bayeux, France.

I have had some really good wines in the 18 - 25 dollar range. Keep in mind, these are the wines that will cost you upwards of $75 in restaurants. I have an in-law who makes several trips a year to Italy and France just to bring back wines not normally available here. With new travel restrictions, it just got tougher for him. He would spend anywhere from $20 to well over $100 per bottle, but he claims whatever he spent $20 on would taste a lot closer to a $75 bottle than a $10 dollar bottle. He has a wine cellar in his 13,000 sq. ft. home that's the size of a bedroom.

There's a guy in NYC, works in a liquor store. Knows his single malt whisky like a savant. Asked him to show me something special and he sold me a bottle of dark rum cask single malt last month. Opened it, tasted it, swooned! Googled it to try to find a local / nearby supply. You'd never know from the price that they only made 2100 bottles of the stuff! The 30 bottles that came into Canada went to Calgary. I can get it in Calgary, NYC or Scotland... Figure this guy must have sold crack in a past life.

Happy ending - they ship to Buffalo! And hey - I just happened to be going to see Neil Young in Buffalo... Excuse me while I bury my nose in this glass.... Mmmmmm :-)

Well I have a bottle that I received as a Christmas present when the wines first came out a couple of years back, but I've no intentions of ever drinking it. lol I like the box on the new one though.

This is certainly one of the most interesting threads since the end of the ABB tour!

No way do I believe that Mick would ever drink the RS wine. BluzDude, your idea of re-labeling good wine is inspired.

Rockman, thought you were on the wagon since the Savoy?
