Here's some more live video footage of the 1967 tour. I already posted this a few weeks ago but I suppose it's fitting to post it on this thread.

The Stones in Warsaw, 1967. Amazing footage:

Do you guys have any pics of the 1967 tour? If so, I think it would be cool to post some of them here. Let's turn this thread into a celebration of what's probably the most underrated Stones tour ever. I'll start by posting this gem:

I'd love a compilation but, unfortunately, I don't think there's a lot of footage of the 67 tour out there. Hope I'm wrong.

yes rebroadcast was made on Europe 1 radio in 95.
The guitar on satisfaction is amazing (very modern)... I guess it is Brian ?
(the recording ends with the original mono broadcast)

Europe 1 has too one of the 70's paris shows in excellent quality in their basement.

Is any of this stuff on any dvd compilation. There must be enough footage from 1967 to put something together. Maybe some of these clips along with clips of the famous drug busts from that year.

If you're refering to the main riff I believe it was always Keith but I'm just going by the TV appearances. I dont see any evidence to the contrary but I've learned to never say never.

I haven't really studied those pics till now on, [www.iorr.org].

Incredible in this day and age to see no mikes on the drums, you can see quite clearly that Charlie is playing flat out using the butt end of the sticks (the blunt end). No wonder they only did 20 minutes - his hands would be badly blistered up after that time.
Love the pic of Bill smiling/smirking at the audience a real "I caught one" look on his face.

The '67 tour had a great setlist.

Here is the 1st Paris show:
Paint It Black
19th Nervous Breakdown
Lady Jane
Get Off Of My Cloud >>>
Yesterday's Papers
Under My Thumb
Ruby Tuesday
Let's Spend The Night Together
Goin' Home >>>
Satisfaction

I think it shows how the band was moving away from their earlier stuff. Too bad they didn't throw in some older stuff.

They also did 'She Smiled Sweetly' at some shows, possibly 'Connection' too.

Around half the songs seemed to feature just one guitar, while Brian played various other instruments...& they sounded amazing! I don't know why Keith feels the need for the "weaving" on every RS song when performed live, the band could obviously sound great with one guitar just like The Who, The Small Faces etc did. Also love Charlie's drumming on these Brian-era recordings, so much energy!

6 of the confirmed set list songs feature Brian and Keith playing guitar.

Proof that Brian actually played sitar live on stage, something there's been some debate over (shame it's inaudible on the Paris tape though).

Nice to read something positive about the tour of 1967. I have a few clips (somewhere) from the swedish papers Expressen and Aftonbladet and all they wrote about was that there were hardly no audince at all in Örebro and that we could almost expect this tour to be the end of the Rolling Stones, and that they earned the hilarious sum of 1000 swedish crowns per minute they performed.

Thanks again! eye popping smiley

I find it difficult to believe they only played 5 songs at this show though:

It's not proof, probably just a case of mis-reporting. They probably mean the electric dulcimer.

There is not one photo, audio or piece of footage that shows Brian had a sitar or mellotron at hand for any of the 1967 European tour gigs.

He used guitar, harmonica, dulcimer, recorder and organ during the tour.

thumbs up

I'm sure the reporter knew the difference.

That still doesn't prove that he didn't play it. Perhaps he was sitting on the floor so was difficult to photograph. I don't believe he played the mellotron onstage though.

No, it's a recorder (a similar instrument, I'm not sure of the difference).

Why should he know the difference?

There's only one song which would even possibly feature sitar, but on the bootlegs from the tour and the footage from the gig mentioned in that article there's 2 guitars on Pain't It Black.

His instruments are all in view for the gigs that were photographed, which is most if not all of them and it's the same instruments at each gig.
