The guitarist of the french band Rita Mitsouko died of a sudden cancer yesterday. Fred was also the husband of the band's singer, Catherine Ringer.
The band was on tour. They played several dates without him (which must have been pretty weird for the fans, but officially he asked the band to go on) and finally cancelled their shows in France and Germany during the last 2 weeks.
Rita had a lot of hit singles in the 80ies and mid 90ies and played duets with artists like The Sparks and Serj Tankian, singer of System Of A Down.
Not a big fan, but they were among the best french bands you could find. I am surprised since I was thinking more french people would react here. We only have few acts we can be proud of, and Les Rita Mitsouko definitely were one of those. Not really rocking, but great, original.
For those who don't know them at all :
Here's theit 1st hit :
Here's a recent live :
Fred Chichin is playing the acoustic guitar
They also had a few songs in english "Singing in the shower" should be available easily on youtube

You have to bear in mind that horse worship is basically the state religion of the US now. Similar to India they've legislated their own version of the "sacred cow", and it's the horse.

The U.S. is into horse worship? news to me, and who is Fred Cichin anyway? I've never heard of him so he can't be anyone special. Now I know all you Europeans will take this the wrong way.
