Slane 2007 - filmed?

Hello, long time lurker, first time poster!

Just one question really...was Slane 2007 filmed by the band? i.e. for a possible DVD release? I know the Austin show's already out on the Biggest Bang DVD, but I've seen a few people on here claim that Slane was filmed. Just watched some bootleg footage on Youtube & it's got me all nostalgic! I'd love to see that show again.
Ta!

I heard it was filmed too, although I dont know what the point would have been. Unless it was for a TV broadcast, because it would be pretty pointless to churn out another live DVD (and unlikely to happen as it would be competing with 'Shine a light')

There is an audience video of Slane. It was shot from the floor, front-right, about 60 degrees from center.

"make up your mind, 'cause I gotta go"

Cheers. Didn't think it was pro-shot, none of the things apparant on The Biggest Bang were there: moving cameras on cranes, an announcement prior to the show, etc.
I f*cking hate it when they film for 'archive purposes only'!

and again:

It was filmed, there were camera's at the b-stage... for what purpose ? A crew member said for a dvd, but i doubt it

However there were several small signs upon entry that stated the show was going to be filmed/ or taped.

There was a recent thread about Stones archives and when the vaults would open so just think of the Slane show as another buried treasure that might be released someday by the Stones future trustees.

or maybe clips of slane will be tacked on to shine a light, hence the long ridiculous delay in the release

As the tour has already been documented on official release more than any Stones tour in history, I think theres probably hundreds of shows that are higher up that pecking order - and I say that as someone who was there and who enjoyed the gig very much.

Cant see the point. Slane was totally the opposite of what the Beacon project was all about - so including it as bonus material to a DVD release of SAL would be inappropriate, concept-wise..

Plus, theres no indication that Scorsese had anything to do with it.

ok then its being delayed for some other reason

its not being delayed for slane that's for sure. slane wasn't "filmed". it was simply videotaped like always although there were a couple of extra positions and more recording of cameras all on videotape unlike "shine a light" which was "filmed" (on FILM).

It was also relayed to a few high rollers who paid a fortune to have their dinner served to them in the castle itself. Presumably they got the same 'feed' off the video as the rest of us mere mortals did, but maybe it was something different?

same feed gazza. i just can't imagine why anyone would want to be inside watching a video of the stones while they play in the yard. mindnumbing really...

Prawn Sandwiches

I'm tired, I'm tired of doing what I'm told.
Things are moving way too slow.

it wasn't that exotic-the irish stagehands thought it was a joke and not a "real" castle cause its owned by a...shock Englishman. I do get what your saying of course-just shocking to me. Being in the middle of that crowd in Slane was exhillirating. I tell people it was the craziest show of the tour in the Northern hemisphere.

I agree, on this tour I saw them in every possible way, like On Satge, FOS, in the side seats, in front of the B-Stage, well you name it, but the thought of "seeing" them on CC at the site they're playing is really mindnumbing.
