Trading clothes betwen Mick, Keith and Ron

In 1976, when arrested for crashing his car on M6 motorway, also carrying drug, Keith pretended that they used to exchange stage clothes between band members from one show to another. So he could not what was in the pockets of his own clothes

I think this case is rubbish, but it was very seriously treated by the court. I think one of the prosecutor, or to the contrary the defence, displayed various Stones tour pictures because of it. You remember more of the story?

Mick was wearing a black leather jacket of Keith's on stage in 75 (or 76??)
and he threw it into the audience, which pissed Keith off dramatically
and he vowed never to let Mick wear any of his clothes on stage again.

but then in that famous scene - whenever it was - where Charlie punched Mick
with the immortal words "you're MY @#$%& singer" - Mick was wearing a jacket of Keith's.
Keith says that's why he grabbed Mick's leg to stop him from going through the window.

It was certainly a premiere... Did you notice Mick never throw anything valuable to the audience? He is savvy, he does not spoil his outfit. But I do understand he does it when it Keith's.

yeah, something tells me it was Baton Rouge, but i may be misremembering that.
i just read it (for the nth time) somewhere too - don't remember where my eyes have been lately, though :E

both the Glimmer Twins have shown well-nigh angelic patience with one another down the decades -
folks who say Keith mouths off too much since the 80s seem to forget all those Mick Wardrobe Errors
that Keith tolerated with such forbearance throughout the 70s :E

The black leather jacket story (1972 tour) is in Barbara Charone's 1982 Keith bio. She says, quoting MT, that MJ and KR argued afterwards in a Seattle restaurant about MJ losing Keith's jacket during "the show," which I suspect was actually the Vancouver opener, where MJ did actually wear black leather. I've never seen a pic with MJ wearing leather onstage in Seattle 1972. The jacket had reappeared onstage by Norfolk 1972, and Keith says in the bio that it was returned to him in New Orleans.

By the way, the photo evidence in 1972 shows stage outfit swapping among band members (for example, MJ and MT with the distinctive glitter-tongue tank, CW/KR with "Exileman" shirt), but I don't recall any between MJ/KR.

I remember him throwing a silver jacket into the audience during the B2B PPV. Mick mentioned shopping earlier that day for it or something. But of course it was for PPV and not a normal thing.

"i was at the mall and got it special for you" - that one?
are you sure he didn't just throw it to an assistant just by the stage? he enjoys that routine

I also remember that he threw his shirt to the audience in Milan 2003 when performing on the B - Stage. I was right there, and remember regreting not to be on the right side of the stage in order to catch the shirt!

Let's put it this way. Mick throwing stuff into the audience is not exactly spontaneous!
He's always very careful about where his discarded threads end up. It's a function of the "thrifty & penny wise" Mick I suspect. Otherwise he'd just buy twenty of everything and think "...sod it "

Stories about how Keith acquires clothes are legendary...but he does evidently get very attached to certain items of attire and I suspect would guard them fiercely

He might have. I'll have to check the video again. The only reason I remember is because it seemed so out of the ordinary for Mick to do that.
