Not a lot of setlist changes there ;-)

I think Bill's dad died on the day of one of the Tokyo shows didnt he? (maybe it was the 26th show)

Those Tokyo shows are fabulous. I still think that 26.2.90 show is as good a performance as they gave in that entire decade

Yes (I'm not sure whether the time difference has something to say) [www.timeisonourside.com]

Odd coincidence that both Bill and Keith (Paris 76) have suffered family bereavements on the day of a concert being filmed for television. Quite a credit to them both that in each case they were still able to rise to the occasion.

It was my misconception.
As Bill's dad was in critical condition since Feb,1990, he arrived late.
Bill couldn't show up the press conference but he stayed cool and played magical role for ten-days run.

Sad Sad Sad should have been the next Start Me Up. Unfortunately, it didn't and isn't alternating with that tune in the set list these days.

My favourites from the album are Almost Hear You Sigh and Rock And A Hard Place.

There are many more good tunes on this disc, like Mixed Emotions (for the groove), Can't Be Seen (for Keith), Break the Spell (for the blues) and Terrifying (for rawness).

But I don't really like Blinded By Love.

like many of you i remember waiting unpatiently for the new album after DW...3 years then was a long period of time. and i remember the positive and large echo in mass media after it was released, not like in 2005 after the release of ABB.

i liked SW from the very beginning, and i still like it now, but i am not really in love with it like with other stones albums. my favourites: rock and hard place, mixed emotions, almost hear you sigh, break the spell, continental drift. Can´t stand blinded by love - for me one of the worst stones songs ever! sad sad sad i liked then but now i consider it a but "shallow".

Hey Rocky Dijon:

Got a big kick out of your story, the timetable of which is virtually identical to my own (I wasn't cool enough or precocious enough to be on board with "Some Girls," though.)

Have been loving "The Monitor Mixes," "Moon Is Up," "Lowdown," "Back Of My Hand." Even with the very sporadic songwriting and recording sessions, there's still so many great tracks that these guys are putting out. Couple their catalogue with the blues'n'roots education they (and Rockman) have given me, I feel incredibly lucky to have the Stones in my life and in the lives of so many close friends.

Just as Keith has always hoped, they have passed it on...

Well done on bein' a "cool rockin' daddy."

@michel
sorry, but you seem to like exactly the songs i can´t stand! funny thing! and one sees that one can love the stones for very different reasons!

<Don't give me crap about Some Girls. The album sucks in my opinion.>

Time always tells. How many classics from 1989-2005 are you hearing on the road?

From Some Girls, almost the entire album has been played on tour (if I remember correctly, only Lies hasn't been played) in the same period. This is NOT because the album sucks, it's because we love it, and it is regarded as a classic stones album. BTW, my favourite stones album smiling smiley
