Recently I have been purchasing CDs t contain great guitar solos... IMO Rick Derringer's solo on "Back in the USA" is worthy of a "great guitar solo of all time label" What are your favorite guitar solos??
I really like Duane's in Statesboro Blues. For the Stones, it's awfully hard to beat the back-to-back Keith and Mick T. on Sympathy. For just a great combination of passion and technique: It's My Own Fault by Johnny Winter.
I know I'm forgetting a bunch of worthy ones, but y'all will remember..
Lounge Lizard - Ian Hunter (Mick Ronson solo) Death Trip - Iggy & the Stooges (James Williamson) I Heard Her Call My Name - Velvet Underground (Lou Reed) Little Red Lights - Todd Rundgren (Todd)
Guitar solo heaven: Sway/gimme Shelter (live) -MT Voodoo Chile , -and yes, Machine Gun (live) -Jimi Hendrix Rat Tomago - Zappa Wipping Post-Allman Bros. Hotel California-Eagles And of course any song performed live by Prince...
