Did you ever notice in BEING MICK...when Bono and Mick are eating lunch...Bono picks up the tab...

The guy sings on Mick's record with a sore throat and cold in the middle of a
U-2 tour at Bono's hotel and then has Bono buy him lunch!

Unbelievable.....

Its a sign of power and status. Anyway, we dont know the full story due to the magic of selective editing. Maybe it was just Bono's 'turn' ?? LOL

Actually, Mick sang on U2's "Stuck In a Moment You Cant Get Out of" around the same time. They just didnt use the version that he guested on when they released it.

When I got out of College, in one of my first jobs, I had a boss, in his 20's worth well over $20,000,000 (in the 1970's) and he never caried any money on him. He would borrow money when he wanted to go to lunch with his employees. He would pay you back after being reminded several times. His brother (and business partner), on the other hand always had at least $1,000 in his pocket. (They worked in different offices, that's why he didn't borrow from his brother.) Point being, money habits go way beyond how rich one might be.

In this case the receipt most likely gets turned into the management company who will either pay the credit card or reimburse the cash, well if Mick picked up the tab, I'm sure that would be the case.

Gazza,

Which one has the power and the status in this case?

Is it Bono letting Mick know he (Bono) is the biggest thing and can more than pay for Jagger's lunch or is it Mick letting Bono know he is blessed to have Jagger at the table and he (Bono) should pay for such good company!

The latter, of course!

I would still like to know if he paid with cash or credit card?

I believe it was a credit card...no cash...
It was a patio cafe outside the hotel.

Reminds me of the scene from Casablanca with Clause Raines ...I get the bill and I tear it up, that's the arrangement....or something like that.

That means less money for Africans with AIDS. ;-)

I'm sure they're friends, and friends pick up each others tabs all the time.

This is probably the dumbest post I've seen on this board. Both Mick and Bono are great guys and I'm sure Mick would definitely pick up the tab for Bono anytime. They're friends and friends pay for each other's meals all the time.

I agree that this is a dumb thing to even start a post about. I would rather see a stimulating off topic post like the Torre thread than a silly on topic post about who pays for a meal. Too bad BV doesn't see it that way.

"Lyin' awake in a cold, cold sweat. Am I overdrawn, am I going in debt?
It gets worse, the older that you get. No escape from the state of confusion I'm in.

That rockumentary was filmed before the ABB tour kicked off so perhaps Bono had more liquid cash on hand that day and just wanted to help a mate out?

Next time it's Mick's turn to pay as he is now rolling in the dough.

If those two ate at my restaurant, the meal would be on the house as I wouldn't even charge them. I'd be honoured. If they ate there alot then I'd set up an account for them.

Not to stray too far from the topic of who paid for lunch but I found it interesting how Mick casually shrugged of the question of how did the Beatles & Stones write so many songs during that period (1960's). He made it sound so simple and routine. If that's true, why did they stop writing songs of that calibur, huh?

Perhaps the music from the 1960's was driven by some divine eretheral force?

Some say it was the drugs.
Hmmmm...

BTW, I don't see Bono pick up the tab in the clip that I posted earlier.
