Dont think you can really compare McCartneys solo career to Jagger's

Jagger's solo career is just an occasional diversion from his 'main' career.

McCartney has been a solo act for almost four decades because his previous band broke up - he doesnt have a higher profile main career

A more accurate comparsion would be to compare Jagger's solo career to McCartney's occasional diversion into side projects like his classical music.

Well it is OLD music, as it's a compilation of tracks from his previous albums. Nothing wrong with this, but I'd rather see him recording new songs instead of putting out songs I've already got.
I don't see any reason why Keith should envy Mick. None of them have put out solo albums for quite a number of years, so they're propably quite on even terms there.
Anyway, as far as I know Keiths first solo album outsold Micks first solo album. Some will think Keiths album is the better of the two, some will think it's Micks. Ladida...and so what...taste and opinion differ.
Some people here think Dirty Works is a great album, I think it's the worst album they ever did. I don't argue with people over that, they've got their oppinion and I've got mine :-)

I was referring to the comment about MICK breing old, not his music. I agree, I never liked " Dirty Work", not at all!

I don't compare them my friend. I just said it would less unfair to compare sales of a greatest hits compilation of Micks with one of Maccas, instead of comparing it with sales of the new Springsteen album.
Off course you're right...Macca has had a solo career for almost 40 years, but still he hasn't put anything out that would compare with his songs during the Beatles years. That's his little burden in life ;-)

Pecman, darling sweetie possum. The Stones are not the world's greatest band. They're a traveling morgue. They're known as 'that band' from the 60s. Ticket sales does not mean great, it means ticket sales. I love The Stones but I am also realistic about their value, entertainment and financial. Rock and roll is really a young man's game.

The Stones aren't rock and roll, sort of Frank Sinatra w/snazzy lighting.

I disagree. rock and roll has nothing to do with age. its the type of thinking that the above post exhibits that leads people to disqualify the stones as "too old" but then you go to show- and i've gone with a few different people who were skeptical- and they rock.. and you have a great time and you leave with a big smile on your face ... thats rock and roll to me!

I don't know why everybody wants to make a big deal about sales. Did anybody think this would be a charttopper? I bought it as a die-hard stones fanas I'm sure a lot of people did.....Besides,take a look at the top selling CD's these days and tell me how many you have...Hell I've never even heard of most of the artists in the top 10 and in 5 years nobody will remember them anyway. But they damn sure will remember the Rolling Stones.

Totally agree. There is no great "scoop" here regarding the sales. It's not a shocker that sales are falling fast. Mick Jagger's forte is lead singer of The Stones and as I said in another thread he is still the same rock star he was before this cd was released.

Now if The Stones had a cd that only sold twenty thousand copies now that is something that would depress me, not a Jagger solo album comprised of stuff that didn't sell that well the first time around.

Mick and keith should be locked up in a studio for 7 days. None of them is allowed to bring any prewritten material. They should start writing from scratch and do a wonderful new album.
