the fact that it had been recommended by other acts based on past experience and the Stones had used the same system (successfully) at Hyde Park would be the obvious answer.

Hey sweet neocon... flattered that you started a thread from my suggestions. Most if not all of my stones-related cringe moments were mention here. Despite liking a lot of Mick's solo output, I'd have to say that most of it from the 80s is pretty cringe worthy, but most of the 80s is.
