I have these weird dreams where I'm going to die in a plane crash, or be slowly crushed to death, be slowly ripped apart...

....with Back to Zero playing in the background.

That's probably the easiest description I can provide of hell.

The scene in Running Out of Luck, right before the performance of Just Another Night (which itself is a cringe-inducing song) where Mick borrows Rae Dawn Chong's makeup bag...and then suddenly turns and reveals his (very) made-up face.

He looked like a tragic old bar room queen.

Her reaction seemed to indicate that her character thought he looked great when he reality he looked just awful. And stupid.

A mockworthy moment that is right up there with the Too Much Blood video in peaking the Cringe-o-meter.

Yes Gazza, I KNEW you'd come through with the name for me! Jimmy Fallon! Yes, love that routine! Thanks for clearing up the Dylan/Keith/Ronnie mess! No wonder they couldn't hear themselves with all that noise behind them! That was an awful time for the Stones, with Mick and Keith on the outs, it sure would have been far better for the Stones to have played a mini-set for Live Aid, although I thought Mick and Tina were HOT! Back to SNL, do you recall the " Cheeseboogie, cheeseboogie, cheeseboogie"" routine ? " Pepsi, no Coke!". That goes way back!

78 SNL
Mick's entire 81-tour wardrobe (75 was bad too, but I was willing to cut slack then)
Undercover of the Night (the video, the album, everything)
She's the Boss (cringing was only half of it, I wanted to change my name!)
RS.com (the Fan club, the wine, the desperate prostitution of it all. Shameless, really!)

Mick and Michael Jackson - State of Shock.

Keith defending Justin Timberlake at SARS concert.

Bill Wyman dissing his former bandmates, whenever he gets the chance.

Keith - The Nearness Of You.

Blondie playing backup guitar.

Streets Of Love.

Mick - Charmed Life.

To Sweet Neo Con---I cringed when I heard the song you took your name from! Absolutely their worst "musical" moment. I can hear Keith and Charlie snickering over that one!

The Choice of Streets Of Love / Rain Fall Down as single releases. I hear the live version of SOL is better than the studio version, so why have they released a lacklustre demo as a single?

i agree...the lyrics to that song are so weak...but i wanna see mick eat his hat.
I thought mick was smarter than to get himself involved that....usually when
he wants to express himself politically, he's a bit more clever (less blatant).

definitely cringed when i saw that...

And as Hairball and others have mentioned...the Justin Timberlake/Miss You moment.

Here's a few more.....

I cringed when (after 12 or so years) Mick claimed that
his marriage to Jerry Hall was never legal anyway etc...etc...

I cringed when he got naked and pretended to make love with Rae Dawn Chong (Running Out of Luck).

....again, anything bill wyman does (music videos, solo albums, metal detecting etc...)

..i did't know about that Mercedes thing....what's next infomercials for hair dye?

Yeah, but the Stones turned it down ("keith doesnt trust big charity gigs", I think Ronnie said) - and then 3 of them played at it anyway. They have a habit of making these half arsed contributions to such events...the Concert for New York being another, although at least THAT performance had some good moments.

That was on the Stones' SNL appearance in Oct'78. Although I think it was only Ronnie and Charlie who had a small part in it as customers.

The Freejack movie

Jumping Jack Flash video with Aretha Franklin,Ronnie and Keith

everything about Mandy Smith (her records, her videos, going out with Bill,is it right that Bill´s son was going out with Mandy´s mother? GOD!!!)

seeing Ronnie on breakfast tv in the UK (GMTV?) about 10 years. He was nervous and shaking. The interviewers were trying to relax him with stuff like "you play for thousands of people, why are you nervous now". He was a mess. Not drunk but clearly "coming down again"

Yep. At the same time. So had they married, Stephen would have been Bill's stepfather as well as being his son - and Bill would have been Mandy's stepbrother as well her husband.

Or something.

Gazza, I was trying to remember which Stones were at the lunch counter in that skit from SNL and I thought it was Keith and Ronnie. Which part of the 2 song set from the Concert For New York did you love? I was at that show and I actually thought the performance lacked energy and punch. It took them( Keith and Mick) a very long time to get into it, at least that's how I saw it. I understand the reason for doing " Salt of The Earth" but it surely is not an upbeat number, or a memorable one. I preferred the Circus version. It did not help to have THE WHO come on right after them and proceed to tear the place apart!

Oh yeah Brandon Block!

Mick being knighted because " Tony Blair insists I take it" was painful to say the least.

Keith's remarks about Elton John and "Dead Blonde's" remember that?

Mick's 1992 National music day intended to run forever that lasted ..... well, just 1992 in fact.

MIck's Far East and Australian 'Solo' tour consisting completely of Stones songs.

Many a Ronnie Wood guitar solo.

Bill Wyman simply being labeled a cheeky rascal when if he was anything other than a rock star he would of been a nonce! Can you imagine any of us in our 40 's -50's being sexually attracted to a 13 year old!!!!
We would be on the protection wing in HMP Wakefield!!

remember when Mick made himself cringe in the GIMME SHELTER documentary?

He was watching the playback with the filmmakers...
...responding at a press conference to the question
about whether he & the Stones are more "satisfied"...

Then they show Mick (watching the playback)...he looks
uncomfortable ("cringed") with his response and mutters "RUBBISH".

Well, this didn't make ME cringe, but I just got finished watching "Hail, Hail, Rock n Roll" DVD #1.

The scene where they are rehearsing "Carol," Chuck Berry & Keith go thru the intro about half a dozen times before Chuck is satisified with how it sounds. After finally getting it "right," Keith turns around and has the look of kill on his face. Funny stuff.

Most recent cringe moment had to be Rain Fall Down live from Salt Lake City on national TV, and they got completly lost. Very embarrasing; as I had to defend the stones at work the entire next day.

Also, can't forget the super bowl appearance and how bad the mix was. It really made them look bad.

I adore the Olympia show on Four Flicks. It has many inspiring moments, too numerous to mention. There is however one cringe worhty Moment. Before the solo on Worried About You mick says to Ronnie in Falsetto "Step up here, play your gitaur, yeah yeah yeah!" and points while sitting at the keyboard. I have to FF past that part every time, I can't take it.

As the ultimate masters of cool, it is very rare for the Stones to lose control long enough to allow a situation to become in anyway cringeworthy; and no single individual within the band would wish to be responsible for letting the others down, so to speak. The exception to the rule, being the embarassing TV sitcom appearances.

Put Jagger on his own however, and the list becomes endless.

i cringe about some things Mick did in the 80´s.

Í don´t know if i may say this on this board but i cringe when Keith starts posing on stage or when he says things like that he snorted his dad or when he says Mick would be nowhere without him and other things like that( this makes him look as if he thinks he is the greatest)

i cringe when CHarlie is asked to speak.......

i just saw a clip on youTube with 2 ladies promoting

i cringe (sort of) when i listen to the "NERVOUS BREAKDOWN" bootlegs....compilation

Ronnie and Charlie as far as I recall. It definitely WASNt Keith. Keith DID take part in a sketch in the rehearsals which was dropped due to its content (I think there was some reference to drugs and him getting his blood changed or something). Mick took part in a sketch where he was interviewed by Akroyd playing Tom Snyder.

Salt of the earth, of course! Mick and Keith on a stage together for the first time in 2 and a half years! Whats not to love?? That concert was broadcast live in Europe. I was able to pick it up on a German TV channel I think. I absolutely screamed with delight when Keith suddenly appeared (unannounced) beside Mick. A GREAT moment.

I was at that show and I actually thought

Ah, it was alright. The occasion and passion was more important I think.

I understand the

I think it is! I think it was a pretty appropriate choice for the occasion, considering the object of the tribute were the FDNY and the NYPD.

>I preferred the Circus version.

yeah, but the only thing "live" about that was the vocal. The rest was a backing track from the original record. The Atlantic City PPV version with Axl Rose was pretty good.

It did not
> help to have THE WHO come on right after them and

Like I said earlier, a missed opportunity for the Stones. It SHOULD have been them. Keith only decided to play when he suddenly turned up at rehearsals the day before and Mick had to change what he intended to perform in order to accommodate him (originally it was intended that Townshend would guest with Mick). Same with Live Aid. They(or Keith) decide not to perform as the Stones, Mick then decides to do it solo, Keith then decides to play at the 11th hour causing a considerable change to the schedule. At least at this show, they got away with it.

The Who were excellent that night and stole the show (even despite Daltrey's voice being shot for most of it) but no way could they have upped the intensity if they had to follow a Stones performance.
