The solo on I'm free from this concert is fantastic.

Somewhere I have a Bootleg from 69 of the Stones doing I'm Free, I remembering picking up my guitar and playing it until I memorized the lead, that didn't take long. Great version in '69

Yup, I'm Free from those gigs are great. LA as well.

Is this a different or extended version of the original San Diego 69?

I only have the original blue vinyl version which unfortunately did not have I'm Free on it.

There's a great version of it on Live R Than You'll Ever B, mind.

I personally like the version from Baltimore - 1969

It starts out as: Under My Thumb then "morpfs" into: I'm Free

Mick Taylor lays down a KILLER lead in this one - hunt it down!!!

The vinyl is missing 4 or 5 songs - while the CD is (nearly) complete.
But don't worry....the old vinyl sounds a lot better than the CD..!

Nice interplay between Richards and Taylor on the SD performance before and after the solo as well.

Carol was better in San Diego than on Ya-Ya's, I think. San Diego perhaps also gave the world the definitive version of Under My Thumb?

There's a smokin, hot version of 'satisfaction' from 'Baltimore and more' I think.
After the first verse, MT goes into a crazy solo.
My fav version of 'satisfaction'.

I'd say it was even better at MSG 1969 - and above all: Altamont

My favorite 69 version is from the "liver than you'll ever be" show.
I love they way Jagger sings "Mr. Taylor, Mr. Taylor" right before the solo.
The way the solo builds up and some of the phrases that Taylor plays are amazing!

I'm probably in the extreme minority here, but the Hyde Park 69 version of "I'm Free" does it for me.

No getting away from Taylor's brilliant work on the Liver boot however.

San Diego 69 was the very 1st bootleg I bought,on vinyl in 1981. I never understood why they did overdubs on ya-yas. They were on fire on that tour . I think Keith and MT were at their best in 69/70.

I only own the cd, not the vinyl. and i have to say it's definetely one of the worst bootlegs i own - soundqualitywise of course.

Really? Even the CD....if you have the right version, is among the very finest recordings of 1969. You don't have too many bootlegs ?

To me San Diego has always been better than any other 69 live recording I've heard.

probably poor mastering of the CD. a good tape of good vinyl would probably sound better.

The TMOQ vinyl sounds a lot better than the CDs, like if the CD is taken from a higher generation tape source....which it probably is, since it contains the whole show, and not just the 10-11 songs to be found on the album.
I only have a CDR version of the vinyl - from torrent - and it blows my CDs out of the water. An original vinyl would been even better of course

Best CD...I'd say "It's No Hangin Matter". But the Swingin' Pig CD is pretty close - a different kind of sound, depends on what you prefer.

Hello!
Thanks to Erik and all the others for your information; I have the Swinging Pig cd and the TMOQ vinyl; will get a copy of "Hanging Matter" from a friend.
Any more information about what is the best quality of the rest of the 69
tour dates would be very welcome; this is my favourite Stones tour, and I would
like to share what "MOJO" had to say about THIS tour:

"The Stones live is Chuck Berry played with a knife, a joint and an erection!"
