OT: American online guitar shops

Does anyone know of any good american online guitar shops that ships to Europe (Norway) ? I'm looking to buy a guitar (taking advantage of the strong Norwegian Krone against a weak USD.) and some accessories. Tried www.music123.com, but they don't accept international credit cards.

Thanks!

Not sure if they take European orders, but try these two.

www.sweetwater.com

Ask for David Hess.

But no Gibson will be shipped outside the US.

try musiciansfriend.com From what I understand, they work with guitar center. If not see if Sam Ash has a web site selling to Europe.

Cheers everyone!! I'll check out the recommended links. I know there'll be a quite high tax, but I think it still will be cheaper than buying from Norway. smiling smiley

While obviously not a US shop, Ishibashi in Japan has some really fortunate prices too. I ordered a Telecaster Custom 72 reissue from their webshop last month. It cost about 4700 NOK (580 euro) including tax and shipping. It took three days from Tokyo to Oslo Airport and then four days from Oslo Airport to my doorstep (an hour away) which says everything about service in Japan vs Norway.

Anyway, thought I just would mention it since they make great instruments if you dig spending a little on new P'ups afterwards.

Best, RB

Sounds great, RB. Do you have an URL for their website?

Everyone here in the Chicago area raves about guitar center. I would use them

+1 on that

from another forum:

"Ishibashi has some good info on Fender Japan Telecasters, and there's a usable english translation of them. I find the pages a little difficult to use, because the types of links they use are not permanent links and I have to remember several steps to get to where I want. Here is the main link and the steps I find that work today, to navigate to find Teles there.

Here's the welcome page for the Ishibashi web shop. That's where I start.

The link to the english translated pages is on that welcome page, under GO TO THE TRANSLATED PAGES (ENGLISH ONLY). That's the next link I take.

The next page I see has tabs near the top. The tabs have Japanese writing but when I mouse over them they reveal english translations. The second tab reads "Page of guitar & base" when I mouse over it. That's the next link I take.

The next page I see, on the left has a column of information. One heading is titled
- Domestic brand
Electric guitar & base
There's a link under that for Fender Japan
I take that link to Fender Japan.

The next page I see has a short and sweet set of pictures for links to different groups of guitars, one of which is a Tele. I click on it to take me to the Teles."

not my words, but hopefully helpfull

Musician's Friend has always been good to deal with. Don't know if they ship worldwide though.

Not only tax, you most likely also need to pay the Norwegian customs to import the guitar.

If you buy a guitar from abroad, the shops usually have a web-price without VAT (value added tax) since (Norwegian) customs add that afterwards. So you don't have to worry about paying tax twice winking smiley
In Norway the tax is 25%. So you pay about 100 euro pr guitar (still using Ishibashi Telecaster prices as an example). Not that much in other words.

Not trying to endorse that Japanese shop here, but the experience has twice now been very positive so I thought I'd let you know. With EMS shipping the guitar was delivered safely on my doorstep in what seemed like 5 different layers of wrapping.

Over and out,
RB

Guitar center is the lowest price of the chain stores, but I think when you want to buy on line, they refer you to musicians friend, unless they changed their policy within the last few months
