Re: Have you ever caught a pick from Keith or Ronnie...?

I was front row at the B-stage in Atlantic City (November 2006). I had encountered Chuck earlier and since he always throws out picks willy-nilly, I had asked him to give me one later at the B-stage. Sure enough, when they came down to the B-stage, he saw me and remembered my request - he gave me a nod and handed me one with Chuck Leavell on the back. I thought that was pretty nice of him. But much better was yet to come. It was the old inflatable palm-tree waving days and when Keith came round to where I was,I waved a palm tree and he just laughed and carried on. When he came round the second time, I waved it again and he stopped and put a pick into my outstretched hand and gave me a huge wink and smile as he did so. After that, I didn't remember much of the next three songs! The pick is all worn on one side and is also a bit extra special because on the back it has the date originally scheduled for Atlantic City (27 October), which as we all know was cancelled.

At the last O2 show, I was the lucky one to whom a security guard gave one of the picks thrown by Keith that landed on the other side of the rail. That one has Keith Richards on the back. Later on, another pick from Keith came flying down and also landed on the other side of the rail. The two security guards were totally ignoring all the increasingly frustrated pleas from us fans on the other side of the rail to collect it and deliver it to one of us. Suddenly, out of nowhere from the right, Alexandra came running up, picked up the pick and with such a look of sheer complicity and delight, delivered it into the nearest outstretched hand. That was so cool of her to have noticed the failure of the security guys to react and to do the business herself.

Of course that counts!!! I was also at that show right up front. We waited outside in line for hours in the frigid Chicago weather and kept taking turns warming up and having a few quick shots in the little divey bar across the street. That was a great show... I remember security being really tight on taking pictures. They were confiscating cameras left & right (never did get mine though)!

Also saw the Stones at the Aragon, but don't recall the bar being there. Could be mistaken!

i caught one from Keith at the Enmore, Sydney.
Some cow, who had been pushing against me all night trying to get closer to the stage, also had a piece of it when Keith threw it, I simply ripped it from her hand....very sweet.

If you had any respect for BV you would follow the rules here. Since I do respect this site & BV, I continue to refrain from retaliating with insults. I do hope BV reads these posts & simply bans you since you refuse to respect his simple rules.

Anyone else find it odd that the Keyboard player is throwing out picks with his name on it? I can see the guitar players since they actually use the things but was very surprised when I fisrt saw Chuck doing it...I think it was at the Gillette show last September.

Someone might get hurt - bad idea.

Plus he already does enough damage on stage.

that doesn't stop Charlie from throwing drum sticks (and ... no never mind!)

Yeah, that cat should stop throwing sticks at me - what's next? Stones?

Hell no, guitar players set lousy picks. They always just want to shoot.

I have seen chuck, a number of times, throw bunches of picks from the B stage, usually at the end of that set

I have a couple of signed Keith pictures, Keith & Ronnie guitar picks, tour passes and sets of 5-string sets of strings that are especially made for Keith by Ernie Ball. I even have an old set of strings that came off Keith's favourite old Telecaster 'Micawber' that Pierre, Keith's tech gave to me a few years ago as a memento.

+1, what Gwen said.

Wow - you have some incredible close-ups which shed some light to questions we've been pondering about on other threads.
Is it ok to use your pictures there? credits goes to you, of course.

I knew you'd say that when I saw the one from Keith's amp rack ;-)

oh my, you sure do - the shots marked "Prague" are actually from Brno, right?
are you the person who filmed the soundcheck there, and uploaded it to youtube?
and ... don't we need a new thread about these brilliant photos? "2007 gear" or something -
i'll be pleased and proud to add it to the Ratbag Boogie if Richard agrees and someone wants to start it

The bar was still there for the Stones' Aragon show. I was in there and kept looking out the window until I decided that the line was getting too long...so I polished off my beer and joined the line around the corner.

I finally had to reply to a message after forever just being a "lurker"!
We took our 13- yr old daughter to the Jan. 2006 Atlanta show. We were, I dont know about 20 rows back right next to the B stage. During that set, our security people btw were really cool, our daughter was pressed up next to the fence, dancing and jumping and yelling for Keith. She knows her mom is a Keith fanatic. We saw Keith lean over and say something to his guitar tech(?) guy. The guy that hands him his guitars. Then he leans over the rail and puts a pic in her hand!! We like to think Keith told him to give it to her, who knows? She sure was being loud enough. BTW, her next concert was Fall Out Boy with her friends and she "secretly" admitted to me it was not as good of a concert as the Stones!!

During the Oct. 2005 show, my husband and I were 3rd row from stage, Ronnies side. Ronnie tossed a pic and it bounced off my, uhm, err.. chest and under the chair in front of me. Guy next to me grabbed it.

Good memories.
