I saw the debut concert of the Plant/Page tour in Pensacola around 1995. They had rehearsed at our quaint 9,500 Civic Center for about a week to warm-up for the tour. The show was great. I thought Gallows Pole was a true highlight. I thought Plant's voice held up rather well, all things considered. They used Pensacola a few years later for a warm-up venue, but this time the opening did not sell out. This show has great possibilities, not because of the addition of John Paul Jones, but because they will feel "free" to play Zeppelin material. During the 95 Plant/Page show they sprinkled Zep songs into the mix, but they were certainly attempting to promote their new album.

Just read the link Gaza and thanks !!!

Thank God the title song of the movie is pretty much untouched. I love that song. I remember seeing LZ in 1977 ( all six nights at the Garden ) and every time I heard the opening note from TSRTS my legs began to shake so much that I had to sit down. I was completely and I mean completely overwhelmed.

Intense music !!!

And I suppose the Stones studio and live albums are not heavily tweaked, doctored and pro-tooled, hmmmmmmmmmm

1 out of every 5,000 Led Zeppelin fans will get to see them. This is not about paying tribute to a dead guy who won't be there to see it anyway. It's about Zeppelin's ongoing cultivation of their fabled and very profitable MYSTIQUE.

I saw the Page/Plant tour at the Gorge in George, Washington in '97 and was completely blown away. I hope 10 years later they will sound as good...

I agree, I saw them in San Jose California in 95? 96?. I was completely happy with what I heard. I saw Led Zep in MSG in 77 and for the Atlantic Record gig. I called the Kashmir opener smiling smiley

If they tour, I may do what I did to see The Who in 79 or 80....climb up the side of MSG into the electrical room. That was about a 6 story climb...kind of like Batman use to do. LOL

Maybe I should buy the costume? winking smiley

Well I just registered.

Many page not found messages and much refreshing but finally it worked.

Not holding my breath but no harm trying.

Re ebay, if they get a nice letter from the lawyers suggesting their asses are going to be sued big time they will pull any auctions mentoning Led Zep and the O2 .

Especially if members report them as they come up.

Alright! Pete Townshend and Bill Wyman will be there. Besides them, the rest of the show looks kind of blah.

Besides Jerry Garcia, Jimmy Page has always been one of my favourite guitarists. My name is added to the other million or so folks. I'm hoping life is stranger then fiction.

20 million are estimated to have registered. No wonder the website was having a hard time, it took me absolutely bloody ages yesterday to get through and finally get an acknowledgement back that the registration had been successful.

[news.bbc.co.uk]

Say for arguments sake the O2 will hold 20,000 for this show; we each have a 1 in 1000 chance of getting pulled out of the hat !! I ain't holdin' my breath !

Hmmm ... kinda depends upon the particular puddy cat, but in general - not great !!

given up.

what sort of chance have you got of getting a ticket, when you
can't even access the site, to register, 20 hours after it went 'live'?

ridiculous.

i'll try again, for a ticket, next year, if they play Wembley Stadium.

Adrian, you just need to be persistent. I got outa the rack for a pee at 4:00 this morning and just about managed to get it together enough to sit down at the laptop for a few minutes and have yet ANOTHER attempt (about the 500th one) to register, and I finally managed it. You just need to keep banging away at it. Don't give up - even though it IS tempting to !!

i just want to get back to the land of ZZZZ's asap.

Perhaps this ticket ballot fiasco is actually part of a scheme to test the waters and see if a Zeppelin tour could be a reality?

A few months ago, I participated in a survey that asked me about my views on the music business. A couple of the questions were "whose music would you buy" and "who would you pay to see live" with a list of artists to choose from.

What I noticed right away about that list was that all were currently active with the exception of one: Led Zeppelin.

what's the capacity of the o2, 22,000??

you can bet 10,000 will only be going to 'ballot winners'.

by the time corporate guests/record execs and celebs get their fill,
there aren't going to be too many left, for the mere mortals.

It'll be an event to be 'seen at' thats for sure.

Expect all the usual pond life, to be walking down the red carpet...
Kate Moss, the Geldof daughters, Paris Hilton... hell i expect that well known Zeppelin fan Victoria Beckham, will even grace us with her godlike prescence, for this one. (in a retro Led Zep t-shirt, of course)

lol- just been informed 14,000 tickets to be allocated
for ballot winners, so my estimation wasn't too far off the mark.

May I ask how you were informed ? Was this through the website used for the ballot registration ? Or hearsay ?

Re: OT: Led Zep Press Conference @ O2 - 12 Sept. @ 4pm

......in addition to that Adrian-L....I have just received a 'spam' e-mail from a ticket agency who specialises in sold out events saying "tickets for famous Led Zeppelin are now available" (paulywaul you are going to love this!.....not) - so I gave them a call and asked them about their claim to having LZ tix. I was told in no uncertain terms, it was no idle claim but they will DEFINITELY be selling an allocation of tickets for this event. Price? £370.00 each, maximum of two per order.

Now, who has Harvey Goldsmith's e-mail to ask him how this can be.......?!
