OT: Concerts you should have gone to, and lived to regret.....

Inspired by the recent thread about concerts, one is embarrassed about, I feel there should also be a thread about THAT concert you SHOULD have attended but did not for whatever reasons...

Mine were back in the 1980's and a friend of mine tried for the longest time to talk me into going with him to a Grateful Dead concert. Their last ever in Denmark as it turned out.

I just did not get (or "dig") the GF at that time in life - I could not understand them!!! And as this socalled friend had made disparaging remarks about Rolling Stones, no way was I gonna go with him!!

I have been kicking myself ever since - today I love the Grateful Dead and have several DVD's to watch - but nothing like seing them live for yourself, eh?

Both the Smiths and U2 played at my Polytechnic as they were starting out. Pretty p*ssed that I couldn't be bothered to go. All the reports from my mates were that they were superb. Duh!

That I didn't get to see Patti Smith this summer, because her European dates coincided with my exams

Jeff Buckley, Reading Festival 28th Aug 1994.

I was as this festival.
The great man was playing in a mid-afternoon slot in a tented side-stage.

Walked past the tent, hearing him play, got distracted, never went in.

never got another chance to see him.

..biggest gig-going regret, ever.

Well Led bloody Zeppelin had just better stop dithering around and simply GET ON with reforming or re-uniting for this one-off show or doing whatever it is they're intending to do, cos' I never saw 'em - and I simply can't have that; it's an intolerable state of affairs. So ... Messers Page/Plant and whoever else is involved: GET ON WITH IT !!

O yeah, and don't forget to send me 4 choice tickets. Thank you !!

I came close but missed some important Stones shows in Chicago...Checkerboard with Muddy Waters in 81, Double Door in 97, and the Aragon show in 02. That said, the only show I truly regret and always will regret not attending (because at the time my parents said I was too young to go)...the Stones at Chicago Stadium in 1975.

Sinatra late eighties. Decided against it.

Jerry Lee Lewis late eighties - Gloucester leisure centre. Didn't have a tenner spare!

Kinks - Girlfriend was pregnant.

Radiohead supporting James..... went to the bar instead

Oasis Gloucester Leisure Centre - worked overtime instead!

i had a ticket for the Rollercoaster tour back in the early 90s (i think)

headlined by The Jesus & Mary Chain, with Blur, Dinosaur Jr and My Bloody Valentine in support

at the time i had no time for MBV and insisted on staying in the bar while they played their set. T-W-A-T

now years later i love em, and never got a chance to see em again after that tour

"I was on the guest list for Nirvana's show in Bristol (Uk) a few days before Teen Spirit broke. I went to the pub instead"

they were great on that tour too. agree Reading wasn't the greatest though

I had an invitation for a Marilyn Manson concert including the after show party with Marilyn.
I don't like the music, so I didn't go.
Sadly the after show party was a real burner including all my favourity exzesses...
Sometimes one must suffer a little to get a reward afterwards...

i heard a rumour about that too. apparently there's website on the go and rumours abound of a tour next year

not sure if its a good idea or not to be honest

Johnny Cash - I remember about 20+ years ago he played near my city, it was like $40 then which seemed extremely high. Boy do I regret that now...
