Mick Jagger solo-tour?
Posted by: RollingStonesFan ()

I don't believe that the Rolling Stones will play any shows next year. I think, the Stones as band need and also want to take a break for one or two years.
A thing I also don't belive is, that Mick, Keith or Ronnie will just sitting in their gardens or collecting procellain during this time. I guess they, or even one or two of them, will do some musical work without the band.
The first concrete thing we know about is Mick's "Best Of album". For me, it seems a bit realistic that at least Mick will do some, maybe just very few, shows.

The Stones are touring next year. Mick wont be doing so as a solo act.

Cant imagine he'll tour behind it as its release is too soon after a Stones tour. Maybe he'll do a couple of short promo shows like he's done before, although as its a compilation instead of a new release, theres probably less need to do so.

the fact that Mick has only ever toured once as a solo artist - and that in japan/Australia in 1988 when the Stones were as good as broken up and his alternative performing options were somewhat limited - should tell you all you need to know. He knows what side his bread is buttered on!

Yeah, he can't charge the same prices solo to hear warhorses that he charges with the Stones.

Even with 'normal' prices, its a very limited market

He wanted to tour behind Goddess but the demand wasn't there as I recall. I doubt much has changed.

While it may not be the Stones, Goddess in the Doorway was a GREAT album as a solo artist. I'd take Mick solo if it was over, but it ain't!!! Thanks bv and Gazza for "the scoop"!

Visions Of Paradise is a beautiful song. Everybody Getting High is fun. Joy is interesting. That makes four pretty solid tunes IMHO.

Goddess is a great album.
Maybe there is not a demand just on MJ name for a tour.
But special events, just a few shows would be fantastic.
Realize that Mick never played in Europe ! made just the Webster hall in NYC once !

It would really be great to play some shows, maybe with guests like during the Goddess recording.

he played in london during the blues thing in 92, but i think nobudy needs him solo. the only good thing about she´s the boss, primitive cool and goddess is that none of the songs has to be on a stones album

True. He could always play a masochist's convention, I suppose.

It would be really great, if Sir Mick Jagger does a solo tour. He is as a solo artist, one of my Top-10 dream concerts.

I do not take this as a credible idea. With whom and for what ? He is a Rolling Stone for the better.

imagine if all jaggers solo songs had been kept back for rolling stones albums.

we could have had another 3 or 4 stones albums to talk about.

missed opportunity mick.

and then thiers keiths solo,s and ronnies and bills

what about charlie.

even the ones where he's having a dig at Keith?

yeah, another 3 or 4 Stones albums full of lightweight Jagger penned pop songs. Would you really want to see dreck such as "Lets Work" on a Stones album? Some of those songs could conceivably work if the Stones were let loose on them, but most certainly wouldnt.

The Stones need at least two songwriters to make a Stones album, and whilst Mick is still writing reasonably regularly, Keith has composed little of note for over a decade.

Mick may do a few small shows at most but Mick will not do a solo tour he knows the only way to make the real money is to tour with to Stones plain and simple.

As Pete Towsand once said , Jaggers solo efforts have all been RUDELY ignored!!!!!!!

Tour with Stones = splitting profit 4 ways

Tour Solo = keeping all the profit

Sure it would be pop....but it might also have some cool covers or maybe some blues.

I even bet the rhythm guitar he brings on tour will remember the chords for Brown Sugar.

: )

Tour with Stones = able to fill stadiums and charge $500 a ticket. Huge corporate sponsorship, TV money and merchandise spin offs.

Tour solo = lucky to fill more than a few arenas, even if charging a fifth of the price of a Stones ticket. Minimal corporate and media interest and very limited market for merchandise

No contest.

Mick could easily sell out theaters and the tour would be a great success. He has plenty of material. Maybe he wouldn't play Omaha but he could do at least 10 US cities and other international places and he'd do more than good sales. It'd be a missed opportunity not to this time around for him. Shame he didn't last time.

Just my luck. Mick records a song about me and it stinks. Wait till I talk to that boy.
