Bill Wyman tour of Norway 2007
Posted by: bv ()
Date: August 30, 2007 19:46

Bill Wyman will be touring Norway for seventeen - 17 - shows in Norway during September. Should I follow him on tour driving around night and day for a month, or should I work on the addiction?

Went there [www.billwyman.com] and saw he's got two English dates
and one Danish too. After 9/11 in Göteborg he returns to Sweden
& Luleå, Umeå, Sundsvall & probably Falun (mis-spelled "Falund"):
with the exception of the Göteborg gig, an all-Norrland tour.
Bill really understands what the world needs! winking smiley
Very nice. I might follow him in Sweden if I have 'nuff money & 'nuff time.

No big deal smiling smiley
Anyway; impressing Norweigan leg.

Just hope he can attract more people in Sundsvall,
my famous former hometown. Maybe a few under 50 this time too?

Sorry but this Wyman is soo boring to me!

He's always complaining about the Stones songs played live (thats ok with me!) but than only plays this really old stuff.
And in a boring old fashioned way!
Wheelchair-Rock, really!

Bill Wyman can never be boring. The songs the band play doesn't always reach me, but it's a thrill to see him pumping that bass, the old devil

Wow, and Stones play fresh, young and modern style, right?

It was an ad in Dagbladet (Norwegian paper) yesterday:
Scandinavian Tour 2007 - Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings.
Listing Copenhagen (Denmark) Sep 10 + Gothenburg (Sweden) Sep 11,
plus 17 dates/shows in Norway from Sep 12 to Sep 30.
Then they will go south through Sweden and do a few more shows there.

For details see [www.billwyman.com]
For tickets see: [www.billettservice.no]

Bill and his band is doing some great boogie woogie rock'n'roll.
They will spend a lot of time on the road in Norway.
Just wonder if they are prepared for the weather.
September is not that late, but they are diving in a bus
from UK I think. There might be snow some places when you
cross the mountains from the south to the North in Norway.

I have very little respect for Bill. How do you leave the Stones. I would get it, if you left and never toured anymore because of the grind, but let's face it, when the Stones tour, they tour in grand fashion. I doubt Bill is traveling in anywhere close to the style the Stones have been traveling since he quit. I know, I'll probably get flamed, but really. I guess it's why I've never been a huge Mick Taylor fan. Now don't get me wrong, I love his playing, but it's hard for me to be a fan of the man, when he leaves the greatest gig in the world. Let's be honest here, when these guys left it was not a "living in the back of a van situation" anymore. I just don't get it. True, I've never been in a legendary rock band before, so I'm sure there are things I can never, and will never, understand. However, you don't quit the Stones. Flame on...

By the way, BV, if you want to follow Bill and that makes you happy, then by all means I say, go. Life is too short not to. People said I was crazy for flying all over the world to see the Stones, but you know what, it made me happy. If you want to follow Bill, I say, "run like the wind."

I would say there is a lot more bad things I could do than following Bill on tour. I could go to Copenhagen and throw bricks at the police or I could climb mountains or I could be go into politics and lots more things but at the end of the day when you have done your work then it is time to do something else than work, and then seeing Bill and his band is a great way to relax and have fun.

Bill quit the Stones because he got a new family. We all know that.
If you don't remember then read this article:
Why Bill Wyman left The Rolling Stones : [iorr.org]
Now his kids are older so he probably feel like having more time to tour. Anyway, this is a tour of 4 weeks or so. It is not a world tour.

BV,

Of course. There are tons worse things that you could do. In fact, I think it would be quite nice to follow Bill around. Don't throw bricks at Police, but after being a part of this board for so long, I can't say I wouldn't hate the idea of you going into politics. You'd probably do a lot better than the bunch we've got in now.

Yes, I'm sure Bill had his reasons for leaving, but I will never understand it. This of course coming from a single man with no family. I wish Bill loads of success and have no ill will towards him. Just a bit of confusion.

Thanks for site.

Wasn`t Bills fear of flying one of the reasons he quit? I read that he drove by car all over Europe for the Urban Jungle tour.

Yes. It is correct that Bill does not like to fly. But he did fly to USA to tour there just a couple of years ago. For most of the time he does his tour with a bus i.e. driving, and if you take a look at the map of Norway, where the distance from south to north is like the distance all through Europe to Italy, then he will do some driving here this month on his tour.

Just back from Rjukan and the mountains.
The heroes of the boogie woogie visited Telemark.
Lots of great riffs and sounds.
They performed in a tent, and the evening temperature
was close to the freezing point.
Bill had to leave the stage during one song
to warm up his fingers under hot water.

I will make a separate page with reports and
pictures from the Bill Wyman shows in Norway,
and also the shows in Sweden and Denmark.
This is just a quick one, from Rjukan last night.

Is that Albert Lee's right arm we can see?

You might have to scrape me off the floor at the end of the tour, but it'll be really good scrapings. - Mick Jagger

Some photos, the poster & the setlist from Oslo Sept 13 2007
They used the same printed list as 2 days earlier in Gothenborg - Bill knows how to save some bucks ;-)

All the Best!

Albert Lee is not in the band for this tour. The guitarists are Terry Taylor and Andy Fairweather Low. I will make a complete list with names etc for a new web page soon to come on IORR.

Is he definitely not at any of the gigs? The latest on Albert's website is:

"I'm now in the UK and spent the last few days rehearsing with the RK's. First gig tomorrow at the Robin, Wolverhampton, then back with Hogans. I have listed the RK's gigs I will be at.

Sept 6th Robin 2, UK .. 22nd Trondheim, 23rd Oppdal, 25th Mosjoen.
Oct 2nd Lullea, 3rd Umea, 4th Sundsvall, 5th Ostersund, 6th Falun. These dates are not 100% but I expect them to be so.

Hope to see you at some of the gigs"

May be something happened, or may be Albert Lee is busy right now. I will be posting the entire list of shows, with freports, list of band members at the shows and what happens at the gigs, as I do know people who go to most shows. Also, I will check with the band.
